The Super Mario Galaxy Movie features a lot less Princess Rosalina than the title might suggest – and fans aren't super happy about it.
Some reviews of the animated sequel pointed out that the mothers of the Lumas doesn't play a big role in the movie, despite the fact that the game hinges on her character, one of several gripes critics had with the film that resulted in a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score. Indeed, our own three-star The Super Mario Galaxy Movie review criticized "the bizarre treatment of Brie Larson's Rosalina."
"Casting a big (& expensive, presumably) actress who loves Mario, the Galaxy stuff, and Rosalina, to voice Rosalina, and then have her hardly do anything is certainly a choice," said one fan on Twitter.

Fans seem particularly confused by the movie's decision to give more screen time to Fox McCloud, voiced by Glen Powell, a character that appears in the Super Smash Bros. games but not in Super Mario Galaxy.
"'Let's make a Galaxy movie, but cut the most story-heavy character in favor of cameos to games that 90% of the audience won't even recognize.' Like, what?" wrote another.
"How do you have the balls to call it 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' and then sideline Rosalina," lamented someone else.
"Knew they were sidelining rosalina the second they started gassing up fox mccloud outta nowhere," someone else wrote.

"Wdym this mf is actually important to the plot?" asked another fan. "Like Star Fox fans I’m happy that your boy is finally getting something after so long, but you gotta admit this is kinda unfair right?"
Still, the movie is on track to make bank at the box office. The Super Mario Galaxy movie is predicted to open to $350 million worldwide, which would make it the biggest movie opening of the year so far.
