Trance , the mind-bending new thriller from Danny Boyle, has released a new US poster.
Featuring star James McAvoy’s angry-face, hidden under a layer of distortion that looks something like a VHS-pause gone wrong, it’s enough to give you a migraine. Which was probably the desired effect, as the exclusive UK one-sheet we got our hands on was similarly trippy.
Trance stars McAvoy as an art-auctioneer who makes off with an extremely valuable painting, only to forget where he’s hidden it. Rosario Dawson’s hypnotherapist steps in to raid his brain for clues when his criminal accomplices get antsy for their loot.
Frankly, anything Boyle did after confirming his National Treasure™ status with the 2012 Olympics’ opening ceremony would warrant your full attention, and the brain-busting premise and appealing cast are just very welcome bonuses.

Trance opens in the UK on 27 March 2013, and will have a limited release in the US from 5 April 2013.
