Bruce Willis' Red underway in Toronto

We've had our eye on Red for a while now, and this take on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's DC Comics graphic novel, has started filming in Toronto.

This isn't just a case of another day, another comic book adaptation though - Red boasts the kind of cast that is guranteed to peak the curiousity of even the most hardened cynic. Just wait.

Bruce Willis stars as Frank Moses, retired and trying to settle into a quiet life. Only things don't stay quiet forever for an ex black-ops CIA Agent.

Moses' life is threatened by a high-tech assassin and Willis' ex-agent has to rally his old crew to save his skin.

That crew is played by Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren. Just think about that lineup for a moment.

Throw in Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox, Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine, and that's quite some cast.

Red will be shooting in and around Toronto for nine weeks and ending the shoot sometime in March in New Orleans, and we'll try and keep all hyperbole in check, at least until the October 22nd release date.

Is this the greatest comic book cast the world has ever seen...?
