Best of E3: PSP

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Publisher: Konami
Developer: Kojima Productions
Release Date: TBA 2007

Metal Gear fans have been clamoring for an action version of their favorite franchise ever since they bought Metal Gear Acid without reading anything about it beforehand. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops delivers, making the most of the PSP to pump out visuals and gameplay that closely match those of Metal Gear Solid 3 on the PS2.

But what really has us interested is seeing another official chapter of the Metal Gear story. Unlike the Acid games, which aren't part of the official canon, this adventure follows Naked Snake/Big Boss through the creation of the FOXHOUND unit, thus filling in the gap between MGS3 and the original Metal Gear. That - in addition to assembling teams of recruitable characters for multiplayer sneakfests - has us almost as excited about this as we are about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Part of the reason we're so excited isbecause, unlike MGS4, we actually got to play this one.To see what we thought, check ourpreview.
