Vince Vaughn confirmed for new series of True Detective

True Detective has followed up the unveiling of Colin Farrell with a second piece of major casting, with Vince Vaughn confirmed for the second series of the acclaimed TV show.

In addition to the casting news, an official logline has been revealed by HBO, giving a flavour of what we can expect from the new series…

“Production begins this fall for the story that follows three police officers and a career criminal who will navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder,” reads the official blurb.

Vaughn will be playing said criminal, Frank Semyon, a thug-turned-businessman working with a cabal of crooked politicians to push through the construction of a high-speed railway. However, his plans are thrown into disarray when one of his business partners is brutally murdered…

Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of the new series, which is set to begin filming later this year ahead of a 2015 air date. Expect further casting announcements in the coming weeks…
