Ever since the first trailer dropped for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the internet has been abuzz with fan theorizing on just how the plot of the new film is going to play out.
And while cast and crew have clearly been heavily drilled so as not to give any details away, Oscar Isaac has told Yahoo! Movies that all the theories he has read have been a long way off the mark…
“I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself,” says Isaac of the online speculation, “but for me I thought, ‘Don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing?’ But it creates excitement for it.”
“I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer,” he continues. “And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things - they couldn’t be more far off-base.”
One thing Isaac can confirm is that there will be an emphasis on practical effects in the new film, the lack of which was one of the criticisms levelled at the prequel trilogy.
“It’s physical,” says Isaac. “You have to kind of get in touch with that child again that had a little X-Wing and would fly around his room making crazy sounds.You had to tap into that spirit again and that was a lot fun.”
“There was a lot of practical effects. A lot of the stuff they actually made. There wasn’t a lot of green screen.”
Directed by J.J. Abrams and co-starring Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in the UK and US on 18 December 2015.
