The organiser of the Edge Get Into Games Challenge 2015 competition (the “Competition”) is Future Publishing Limited (“Future”). The Competition shall be made available at the website gamesradar.com/edge (the “Site”).

As a condition of participating in the Competition, you agree to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Future, whose decisions shall be final and binding in all respects, and to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Competition or these Official Rules.

1. Eligibility

The Competition is open to individuals that: (1) are at least eighteen (18) years of age or older and not a person barred from participating in the Competition under the laws of Great Britain or the United States or other applicable Jurisdiction; (2) have technical programming education, experience and/or knowledge to create original content using the Unity development platform; (3) are physically located in a country, state, city or other legal entity (collectively, “Jurisdiction”) in which participation in the Competition is unrestricted by law; and (4) at all times abide by these Official Rules.

Employees of Future, Unity Technologies SF, Sony and their respective group companies, and any other official partners, sponsors, or associates of Future relating to the Competition and their families are not eligible to enter this competition.

2. TERM

Competition begins on April 1, 2015 at 12:00 GMT and ends on June 30, 2015 at 23:59 GMT (“Competition Term”). GMT shall control for all purposes of this Competition. Future’s computer shall be the official clock for purposes of the Competition. Announcement of the potential winners will be posted on the Site on or about the week of July 13, 2015.

3. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION

A. Review these Official Rules:

If you wish to participate in this Competition, you must go to the Site (www.gameradar.com/edge) and review these Official Rules. At time of submission of your Game as described below, you will be required to accurately and truthfully provide all mandatory registration information specified on the Site for participation, including name, address and email address and agreement to the Official Rules. Individuals eligible for participation in the Competition may participate individually or collectively as a “Team,” which may include up to seven (7) additional individual members (“Team Members”).

If participating as a Team, the Team must designate one (1) person (a “Team Delegate”) to represent the Team in entering the Team submission. Any prize awarded to a Team shall be presented to the Team Delegate. The Team Delegate is responsible for identifying all Team Members and will have final authority in dividing prizes amongst the Team (if awarded). For purposes of this Competition, the Team Delegate shall be deemed “Entrant” and must have the permission and consent of Team Members to act in this role and confirm the Team’s agreement with these Official Rules. Each Team is solely responsible for its own collaboration and cooperation with respect to Competition participation. In no event will Future officiate in any dispute regarding the activities and participation of Team members.

B. Development Tools and Resource Requirements:

To participate in the Competition, Entrants must download Unity 5 at http://unity3d.com.

C. Create a Game or Interactive Content Entry:

Using the Game Development Tools and Resources identified above, develop a playable Unity-based game or other interactive content for play in web browsers using the Unity Web Player plugin (“Game”).

D. Submit Game or Interactive Content Entry:

Any time during the Competition Term, a Game may be submitted via email to edge@futurenet.com (including the subject line Edge Challenge). Any form of entry other than those described herein is void. Each Entrant may submit no more than three (3) Game Entries, whether as an individual, a Team Member or Team Delegate on behalf of a Team. The Game and all Game related information must be in English.

E. Additional Entry Requirements:

To be eligible for judging, each Game must meet the following content/technical requirements: (1) all content of each Game component must be the Entrant’s original design and creation or, to the extent that pre-existing source code is incorporated into the Game, contain only source code that does not infringe on any third party rights, that conforms to all applicable licensing and use terms; (2) conform to all applicable licensing and use terms; (3) not contain any third-party promotion marketing or advertising in any form or of any kind; (4) not be obscene, indecent, violent, hateful, libellous or contain other offensive or inappropriate content, explicitly or by innuendo, as determined in Future’s sole and absolute discretion; or (5) not infringe on any third party rights or otherwise violate or be prohibited by applicable law or regulation.

Game Entries may NOT contain, as determined by Future, in our sole and absolute discretion, any content that: (a) Contains obscene, indecent, hateful, or other offensive or inappropriate content, including, but not limited to, nudity, pornography or profanity; (b) Contains trademarks, logos, or trade dress, without express written consent of the rights holder(s) or a reasonably apparent lawful basis for Entrant’s use(s); (c) Promotes use of alcohol, illegal drugs or tobacco; (d) Promotes a particular political agenda; (e) Defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks, including but not limited to, words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group, about other people or companies; (f) Threatens any person, place, business, group or nation; (g) Contains copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media) either without express written consent of the rights holder(s) or a reasonably apparent lawful basis for Entrant’s use(s); (h) Invades privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity; (i) Contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person (other than a member of Entrant’s family or for whom Entrant has received consent) including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead either without express written consent of the rights holder(s) or a reasonably apparent lawful basis for Entrant’s use(s); (j) Contains look-alikes of celebrities or other public or private figures, living or dead either without express written consent of the rights holder(s) or a reasonably apparent lawful basis for Entrant’s use(s); (k) Communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which Future’s wishes to associate; and/or (l) In any other way violates applicable laws and regulations.

Future reserves the right to review each submitted Game for content before being judged; however, such review does not relieve Entrant from responsibility for compliance with these Official Rules. Games that do not comply with these Official Rules or that otherwise contain prohibited or inappropriate content as determined by the Future, in its sole discretion, may be disqualified and not be considered for a prize. Future makes the final determination as to which Games are eligible to take part in this Competition and be considered for a prize. Future reserves the right to refuse any submitted Game for any reason at any given point in time in its sole discretion. All such decisions of Future are final.

By entering the Competition, each Entrant warrants that Entrant’s right to enter the Game is not restricted in any way. In the event a Game includes elements not owned by Entrant, then Entrant may be required to provide, if requested, a legal release for use of such elements, in a form satisfactory to judges such that Future may use such elements, in whole or in part, and any modification thereof, in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed without territorial, time or any other limitation. In addition, if the Game includes collaborative contributions from multiple individuals, Entrant warrants that they have the right to include such contributions in the Game, in accordance with the provisions of these Official Rules and then Entrant may be required to provide, if requested, a legal release for use of such elements, in a form satisfactory to judges and such that Future may use elements, in whole or in part, and any modification thereof, in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed without territorial, time or any other limitations.

ENTRANT RETAINS OWNERSHIP OF ITS GAME. ENTRANT GRANTS TO FUTURE (INCLUDING FUTURE’S AFFILIATES AND SUBSIDIARIES, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND CONTRACTORS), UNITY TECHNOLOGIES SF, ANY TESTING PARTNERS, AND COMPETITION JUDGES AN IRREVOCABLE, ROYALTY FREE, FULLY PAID UP, WORLDWIDE, NON-EXCLUSIVE LICENSE TO USE, REVIEW, ASSESS, TEST AND OTHERWISE ANALYZE ITS GAME IN CONNECTION WITH THIS COMPETITION AND TO MAKE THE GAME AVAILABLE IN ANY MEDIA. ENTRANT UNDERSTANDS THAT IT WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION OR CREDIT FOR USE OF ITS ENTRY, OTHER THAN WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES.

4. JUDGING

A. Judging Criteria:

Games will be judged according to the criteria (“Judging Criteria”) set forth below by a panel of judges (the “Panel”) consisting of (but not limited to): members of Future’s Edge editorial team (including Tony Mott) and representatives of Unity Technologies SF’s creative, technical and executive team, and leading Developers, considering the following overall criteria: (1) creative interpretation of the theme (33.33%); (2) originality (33.33%); and (3) quality and technical merit (33.33%). Application of the Judging Criteria to Game Entries shall be at the judges’ reasonable discretion and, as to matters of subjectivity, the judges’ sole discretion. The judges’ decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Competition.

B. Judging Process:

After the close of the Competition Term, all eligible Games received will be reviewed, considered and evaluated by the Edge Editorial Team, pursuant to the Judging Criteria described above. Twenty (20) of the Game Entries will be selected as Competition Finalists to be considered and evaluated by the Panel, pursuant to the Judging Criteria. The Competition Finalists will be the potential winners of a prize, subject to verification. Competition Finalists will consist of one (1) Grand Prize winner and two (2) Runner Up Prize winners. Announcement of the Competition Finalists will be posted on the Site on or about the week of July 21, 2015. Prize award is subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Future reserves the right not to award the prize if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Games.

FUTURE MAKES NO GUARANTEE THAT ANY FINALIST GAMES WILL BE USED.

5. WINNER NOTIFICATION

All Competition Finalists are potential Finalists, subject to notification, verification and acceptance of such prizes. Potential Finalists will be notified by sending a message to the email address or mailing address provided at time of registration within seven (7) days following completion of judging. If the notification that is returned as undeliverable or potential Finalist is otherwise unreachable for any reason, Future may select an alternate potential Finalist, at Future’s discretion. If there is a dispute as to who is the potential Finalist, Future will consider the potential Finalist to be the authorised account holder of the email address used to enter the Competition.

Potential Finalists may, at the option of the Future, be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release, where legal, a Publicity Release, and IRS Form W-9. Potential Finalists may be required to obtain releases from all members of their respective Team and/or any and all third parties appearing in or implicated by their respective Game. If the potential Finalist does not complete the required forms as instructed and/or return the required forms within seven (7) days, Future may disqualify the potential Finalist and select an alternate potential Finalist, at Future’s discretion.

6. PRIZES

The following prizes will be awarded subject to verification: One (1) Grand Prize: Unity Pro licence, including iOS Pro and Android Pro deployment add-ons, trip for one to attend the Unite Conference (package to include one ticket to Unite 15 in Boston, 3 nights hotel accommodation (hotel to be determined by Future), one economy return flight ticket (awarded to a Team Delegate if valid Team entry)); stand space at Abertay University’s Dare ProtoPlay festival to showcase your game to 13,000 attendees, and UK travel and accommodation expenses for two members of the team; coverage via Edge magazine, www.gamesradar.com/edge and through Edge social media channels, coverage on Unity3d.com and on social media channels at Unity Technology’s discretion, Two (2) Runner Up Prizes: Unity Pro licence, including iOS Pro, and Android Pro deployment add-ons (awarded to Team Delegate if valid Team entry).

7. PRIZE RESTRICTIONS

No more than the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules will be awarded. All prizes are awarded AS IS and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose) by Future and/or Unity Technologies SF. The prizes are not assignable or transferable and no substitutions are allowed except by Future, who may substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value. Winners of Unity software licenses must accept the terms of the applicable license agreement prior to using the software. Taxes, duties or other costs, if any, relating to receipt, acceptance and/or use of prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winner, and Future is not responsible for any disputes arising between Team Members regarding prize dispersal. ALL TAXES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNERS. Any required tax reporting forms will be furnished to the appropriate tax authorities.

8. PUBLICITY RIGHTS

Unless otherwise prohibited by law, by participating in this Competition and/or accepting a prize each Entrant grants Future, Unity Technologies SF and their respective designees the right to use such Entrant’s name, address, photograph, likeness, picture, portrait, voice, biographical information, Game, Game Video, and/or any statements made by Entrant regarding the Competition or Future for advertising and promotional purposes for this and similar promotions, worldwide, and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised without additional compensation, review or approval rights, notification or permission, except where prohibited by law.

ENTRANT FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT IF ENTRANT IS CHOSEN AS A WINNER, ENTRANT’S PERSONAL IDENTIFYING INFORMATION MAY BE DISCLOSED TO THIRD PARTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, PLACING ENTRANT’S NAME ON A WINNERS’ LIST.

9. WINNERS’ LIST

A winners’ list will be made available on the Competition Site at www.gamesradar.com/edge on or about the week of 13 July, 2015. To obtain a copy of the winners’ list, any person may mail a self-addressed, stamped envelope after 30 days from the completion of the Competition to Future Publishing Limited, 5 Pinesway Industrial Estate, Ivo Peters Road, Bath, BA2 3QS, United Kingdom. Requests must be received no later than three (3) months after the completion of the Competition.

10. REPRESENTATIONS

By participating, each Entrant submitting entry materials (including a Game) represents and warrants that: (1) the Entrant and the Game fully comply with all eligibility requirements and all other provisions of these Official Rules; (2) in preparing the Game and entering and participating in the Competition, the Entrant has complied and will comply in all respects with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules (including any applicable rules and policies of the Entrant’s employer or academic institution if the Entrant is representing their employer or academic institution in the Competition) and has not violated nor will violate any agreement or understanding by which it is bound, including any confidentiality, employment, consulting, intellectual property assignment, or license agreement; (3) the Game consists entirely of Entrant’s own original work or of work to which Entrant has all necessary rights (whether by virtue of ownership of such rights or having received the express written consent of the creator to use such work); and (4) neither the Game nor the duplication, use, display, performance, or distribution of the Game in any media will infringe or misappropriate any intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any person or entity.

11. GENERAL CONDITIONS

By participating, each Entrant agrees: (1) to abide by these Official Rules, and the decisions of Future and judges in all respects relating to this Competition, which shall be final and binding; (2) to furnish Future with executed copies of any documents required by Future in order to be confirmed as a Competition Finalist, including without limitation, an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Publicity Release, the written consent of any other family member who appears in the Game (and their parent or legal guardian, if such person is a minor) and any other written permissions, as set forth above; (3) to release and discharge the Future, Unity Technologies SF and their respective affiliate companies, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, prize suppliers, and Future’s advertising, promotion, media, public relations and judges and all their affiliates, and each of their respective agents, representatives, officers, managers, directors, members, shareholders and employees (collective, the “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind to persons including, without limitation, death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from entrant’s participation in the Competition or any Competition-related activity or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize (or portion thereof) (including, without limitation, any travel or activity related thereto); (4) to grant the use of his/her name, address (city and state), photograph, image and/or likeness for programming, advertising, publicity and promotional purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known, worldwide in perpetuity by Future and its designees, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from entrant and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so; and (5) to defend, indemnify and hold harmless each of the Released Parties from and against any and all claims or actions arising out of or in connection with Entrant’s participation in the Competition, any breach of representation made by Entrant in connection with the Competition, and the exercise by Future or its designees of any of the rights granted by entrant in these Official Rules.

13. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

Released Parties expressly disclaim any and all warranties or conditions of any kind (whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise), including but not limited to, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Released Parties shall not be liable or responsible for those guarantees, warranties or conditions made or offered by advertisers, partners, manufacturers or suppliers, including those relating to the prizes. Under no circumstances shall related parties be held responsible or liable for a participant’s use of the information and/or products provided and/or made available through the Competition or for errors or anomalies resulting in the unintended or erroneous participation, award of Competition prizes or other benefits under the Competition to participants.

Released parties offer no assurances, guarantees, warranties or conditions that the Future Software, Competition or Competition Sites will be uninterrupted or error-free and does not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through the Competition. Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, undeliverable or incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, illegible entries due to technical, computer, mechanical, printing, typographical, human or other errors relating to or in connection with the Competition, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in connection with the administration of the Competition, the mailing or transmission of entries, notification or correspondence, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes or in any Competition related materials; (2) technical failures of any kinds; (3) failures of any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition; (4) unauthorized human and/or mechanical intervention in any part of the entry process or the Competition; (5) technical or human error that may occur in the administration of the Competition, the sending of entries or the processing of entries; or (6) any injury or damage to persons (including death) or property that may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from Entrant’s participation in the Competition or receipt or use of any prize. If for any reason an entrant’s Game is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or otherwise destroyed, corrupted or for any other reason not accepted as an entry into the Competition, Entrant’s sole remedy is to submit another Game in the Competition. Future may rescind any Competition entry found to contain such errors or failures without liability at its sole discretion.

RELEASED PARTIES WILL NOT BE LIABLE, AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE, FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND RELATED TO A PARTICIPANT’S PARTICIPATION OR INABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION OR ANY ERRORS IN THE UNITY SOFTWARE, WHETHER THE DAMAGES ARE DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL. FURTHER, BY PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION AND/OR ACCEPTING A COMPETITION PRIZE, A PARTICIPANT AGREES THAT RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR, AND WILL BE HELD HARMLESS BY PARTICIPANT AGAINST ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE, INJURY OR LOSS TO PERSON (INCLUDING DEATH) OR PROPERTY DUE IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, TO ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF A COMPETITION PRIZE, PARTICIPATION IN ANY COMPETITION PRIZE-RELATED ACTIVITY, USE OF ANY TENDERED ENTRY OR OTHER RIGHTS GRANTED HEREIN OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES; THEREFORE THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY.

If in Future’s opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Competition, or if computer virus, bugs, unauthorised intervention, fraud, or technical difficulties or failures compromise or corrupt or affect the administration, integrity, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Competition, the Future reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and or void any entries submitted fraudulently, to modify or suspend the Competition, or to terminate the Competition. In the event that the Competition is cancelled or postponed for any reason whatsoever, the ARV of the prizes will be awarded to the extent required by law.

ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE FUTURE’S SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE COMPETITION MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, FUTURE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK CIVIL AND/OR CRIMINAL PROSECUTION AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING LEGAL FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.

14. ARBITRATION AND DISPUTES

These Official Rules are governed by English law. Any disputes arising between Future and any third party in relation to these Official Rules and/or the Competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales (save that Future shall be entitled to take action against a third party in any other jurisdiction.

15. PRIVACY

By entering the Competition, Entrant agrees to Future’s and Unity Technologies SF’s use of Entrant’s personal information in connection with this Competition and subsequent Future promotions.
