Disney turning Matterhorn ride into a movie

Pirates Of The Caribbean proved that theme park rides could be turned into massively profitable franchises (at least if Johnny Depp’s involved).

Which explains why Pirates producers Walt Disney are looking to turn even more of their rides into movies.

Jon Favreau already has Magic Kingdom on the horizon, while Guillermo del Toro is producing The Haunted Mansio n . Now Disney is fixing its ambitions on its popular Matterhorn ride.

First opened in 1959, the ride is a toboggan-themed rollercoaster. Designed by Walt himself, it’s intended to resemble a Swiss mountain.

Provisionally titled The Hill , already two scriptwriters are in place in the form of Jason Dean Hall and Justin Springer, with the plot revolving around five kids who discover Yetis on the top of a mountain.

Can Disney recreate that Pirates success? If Depp plays a Yeti, then just maybe.
