Amy Adams signs on for The Muppets

Muppet Movie

Amy Adams, aka one of Total Film ’s most favouritest actresses on the face of planet Earth, has signed on to star alongside Jason Segel in the new muppet movie.

Though she’s also been considering roles in Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo and Alex Kurtzman’s Welcome To People , clearly the chance of working with the above stuffed cast was too good of a deal to pass up.

Which, frankly, makes the awesome-sounding muppet comeback just sound even more awesome. Scripted by Segel, the as-yet-untitled movie casts Adams as Segel’s girlfriend, who joins him on a road trip to the Muppet Studios in Los Angeles.

There, the duo and Segel’s bear friend Walter attempt to save the studio from closure by muppet-hating oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper).

And, in the grand tradition of muppet movies, there’s a steady stream of big name cameos that Segel has written into his script, with verbal agreements from the likes of Sean Penn that they will appear.

The only way we could possibly get more excited about this new muppet outing - which is said to go back to the basics of the original movies The Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manahattan - is if Adams sang a duet with Kermit the Frog. Please let it be so…
