Tom Felton: Heartbreaker

Being cast as the only girl in a trio leads to a hellalotta rumours, as Watson soon discovered. After spending years batting off questions about whether she liked specs or gingers, it was Jonathan Ross that finally got the world an answer. Was it Rupert or Dan?

Actually, it was neither. Tom Felton, aka Draco Malfoy, had been the object of Emma's affection for years, and apparently consistently kept her firmly in the friend zone, telling press that he saw her as his little sister.

Top tip for anyone fancying their chances: Tom won Emma's admiration thanks to his rebellious attitude, as she told Ross: “We love a bad guy, he was a few years older and he had a skateboard - and that just did it really.”

Fifty Shades Of Nay

Within minutes of the official announcement of an impending Fifty Shades Of Grey movie, rumours were flying as to which young actress would be landing the role of the sexually submissive (and completely nauseating) Anastasia Steele.

With her doe eyes, natural look and squeaky clean reputation, Watson's name was immediately sent to the top of the list.

However, it didn't take long for her to put all gossip to bed (no pun intended), with a well-timed tweet loaded with exactly the right amount of snark: "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life".

Hermione 4 Harry 4 Eva

Poor Ron. His attempts to destroy the locket horcrux brought him face-to-face with his worst fears, as he saw a giant smoke depiction of BFF Harry and long-time crush Hermione locking lips.

It might have only been magic, but Watson and Radcliffe had to go through with the smooch for real, something that Emma likened to kissing your brother. That being sad, Dan Radcliffe famously stated that she kisses "like an animal", so we're guessing there were some decidedly un-brotherly thoughts going through his head.

Hermione 4 Ron Instead

This was the one Potterheads everywhere had been waiting for. After seven books and as many movies, Ron finally got his girl and it wasn't half passionate. Mid the battle of the century at Hogwarts, Herms and Ron found themselves momentarily elated after destroying another horcrux, and threw caution to the wind for one heck of a kiss.

It might have looked loved-up, but Watson wasn't feeling the romance on-set, telling journalists "Yeah, it was horrible! I mean really horrible. I felt incredibly awkward." Chin up, Rupert.

The Yule Ball

Really, Urge Overkill's Girl , You'll Be A Woman Soon should have been playing during this moment.

Thanks to one scene (and one very gorgeous pink dress) in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire , Harry and Ron joined the audience in disbelief as they all noticed that Hermione, and indeed fourteen-year-old Emma Watson, wasn't a little kid anymore. You could practically hear the fashion designers scrabbling to sign her right then and there.

Charms Lessons

She may have only been little, but Ms. Granger is still the undisputed queen of shady side-eye, and Emma Watson gave us serious twelve-year-old sass as the she schooled poor, hapless Ron in magical incantation pronunciation.

Altogether now: "It's Leviosa, not Leviosaaah". Even the swottiest kids at our schools didn't know how to make a feather fly.

Valley Girl, Duh

After what must have seemed like years playing beloved literary characters, Watson finally got a chance to let her hair down and have some fun with the horribly captivating Nicki Moore, based on real-life jailbird Alexis Neiers.

As a member of the Bling Ring gang, famed for targeting the Hollywood homes of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom, Watson stole every single scene from her co-stars, slaying with lines like "this situation was a huge learning lesson for me…I wanna lead a country one day, for all I know".

Beauty And The Beast

After adding work with big names like Alfonso Cuarón, Darren Aronofsky and Sofia Coppola to her CV, Watson is not set to team up with the incomparable Guillermo del Toro for a new adaption of fairytale Beauty And The Beast .

We can't imagine this will be anything close to the 1991 Disney version, with its charming talking crockery and catchy songs - with the master of dark fantasy at the helm, we're guessing it'll be focusing much more on Watson's character's kidnap and incarceration, along with a smattering of creepy beasties. No word yet as to who'll be starring alongside her.

Emma Heads To College

Proving that she has talent, beauty and brains too (some people get all the luck), back in 2009 Watson decided to take a short break from acting and accepted a covetable spot at Brown University in Providence, one of America's best Ivy League universities.

Not only that, but she popped back to England for her year abroad as student of, yep, you guessed it, Oxford. The lines between Watson and Granger remain ever blurry. Someone get that girl a time-turner.

"Still Got It"

Whilst attending a fundraiser for J. K. Rowling at Watford's Leavesden Studios last November, Emma ran into a familiar figure at The Warner Bros. Studio Tour - a waxwork likeness of herself.

She simply couldn't resist a double Granger photo, and gave us a rather stirling impression of the suitably sinister looking figure, complete with drink in hand. If only Hermione could see her now.
