2 Ico - The bridge
There are two things you think you know about how Ico 's fairytale plays out. The first is that every move you makeis about you tryingto escape the massive island castleyou've been abandoned in; the second is that you're bringing fellow prisoner Yorda with you.
And so, beating back the shadow creatures that chase her, pulling her by the hand across crumbling walkways, and leaps of faith, you finally make it to the bridge leading to the mainland; so close to freedom. And then the two things you think you know collide in what would be gaming's ultimate"survive alone or die loved?" moment if you hadn't already come so far.
Yorda stumbles from your grasp and the bridge begins to separate, with her and the castle on one side and you on the other. You've made it but she can't - this isn't the ending you'd imagined. So you jump back, even though by now the gap is too wide for you to make... and she catches you by the hand, just like you've done with her so many times. Because you're in this together.
