Turns out despite the huge brand name and near universal critical acclaim, Tomb Raider Underworld just didn't sell as well as they had predicted, so it's time to tap that lucrative family market.

But Eidos don't need to spend thousands on a marketing consultant - we've done all the hard work for them and drawn up new versions of Lara. Indeed, one for every member of the family. ...

Dec 3, 2007

It could well turn out that Tomb Raider Underworld is the name Eidos will slap on Lara Croft's next adventure.

Despite all the hooplah about Lara returning to the console that made her famous (well, its successor, anyhow), you had to know that the PlayStation 2 would not be the only place you could get your Tomb Raider Anniversary fix. Now, the game that looked uncannily good on PS2 looks even better on 360 and hasn't lost a beat.

With last years Tomb Raider Legend, new developer Crystal Dynamics tore down the decadent remains of what Tomb Raider had turned into and ...

Back in June, it was announced that Tomb Raider: Anniversary would be coming to Xbox 360 as a number of downloadable episodic content for the 2006 release Tomb Raider: Legend.

However, it seems as though Anniversary may be getting the retail treatment.

The Eidos executive thinks that the games industry needs more iconic characters to compete with movies, TV, and comics:

Industry veteran Ian Livingstone thinks that game developers need more character. The Eidos product acquisition director, speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival 2007, told the audience that characters were extremely important not just in games, but also as intellectual properties that can then be used in other products.

A lot of next-gen gamers are pretty peeved with the fact that Eidos doesn't seem very interested in bringing the Tomb Raider remake (TR: Anniversary) over to any of the two next-gen consoles. It's always made sense that it'd be in their best interests to make an HD port of some sort, or re-tool the PC version a bit and release that. So, with the release of TR: Anniversary on the PS2 and PC, Eidos has revealed an interesting tidbit in regards to delivering the game to next-gen consoles.
