Split-Screen: "First, XBox 360 owners were treated when Namco-Bandai's Tales of Vesperia released on the system, and this certainly helped bolster the console's presence in Japan due to it's exclusivity. Then PS3 owners got the royal treatment, plus additional content, when Vesperia was announced to be on it's way to Sony's console in time for Christmas. We don't quite know what Wii gamers were expecting, given that Tales of Graces was already announced for the console, but a blog post by a Vesperia voice actor indicates they could be in for more."

Earlier this week, the long awaited PS3 port of Tales of Vesperia went on sale in Japan. Preliminary sales figures for the title are in, and the early reports suggest that the title moved an astounding 147,000 copies it's first day. For reference, the XBox 360 version sold 71,000 units in it's debut and finished with 106,000 copies opening week, shifting roughly 140,000 units before dropping off charts 2 weeks later.

However, Sony intervened and blackmailed them into adding massive amounts of new content if they wanted to be allowed to go ahead with the PS3 release at all…
It appears they were initially planned in the Xbox 360 version.

The port includes numerous extras and changes, such as a brand new character, Patty Fleur, the addition of new bosses like the Sword Dancer, Flynn being playable for more that just one battle, among other changes. The game will also be fully voiced and will include new and altered scenes, such as Yuri fighting Don Whitehorse when the party visits Keiv Moc.

On Magna Carta II, 411mania writes: "Even though the title indicates that this is the second MagnaCarta game, it is actually the third in the series, the first being for the PC and the second for the PS2. Unfortunately, Atlus' release of the PS2 sequel a few years ago wasn't very well received - some were impressed with the visuals and a lot of people liked the story, but many found the combat system off and most agreed that the voicework was bad. Luckily, MagnaCarta II features a whole new cast of characters, a new storyline, and a different fighting system, so knowledge of the previous games are not necessary."

Shoko Nakagawa (pictured, with cats) is a big star in Japan. She's a TV personality, a singer and a nerd. She's a very pretty nerd, but still, a nerd. The queen of the otakus!

In Japan, the Xbox platform has traditionally been the one of choice for many otaku. As Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki pointed out, nobody in Japan buys an Xbox on accident.

Not that she needs to earn any more geek cred, but last month she bought an Xbox 360 to play Tales of Vesperia on. She wasn't alone! Lots of Japanese people bought an Xbox 360 for that game.

Tales Union looks into how this might affect the North American version, which had the Japanese vocals in the anime cutscenes, but was unreachable outside of viewing the extracting scenes on a computer.
Within a week of the game being released over there, the console was completely sold out nationwide.

Developer and publisher Namco Bandai hasn't named a European distributor for the game just yet, but we've been allowed to snap up the demo exclusively with our October Issue (on sale Thursday 4th September)."
There are three packs online now: Level Up + 5 (1), Level Up + 5 (2), and Level Up + 10. However, you cannot repeatedly buy the Level Up + 10 Pack and skip grinding all together. Each of these packs and the 300,000 gold can only be purchased once.

Kotaku: Sure, Namco Bandai's latest Tales RPG had to settle for a fourth place finish, but it faced strong competition. Phantasy Star Portable, with its Monster Hunter Portable-like appeal, still holds down the number one spot, with the newest Fire Emblem and Rhythm Tengoku Gold placing and showing, respectively, with well over one hundred thousand units sold. Tales of Vesperia's 100K-plus debut week is certainly going to move some Xbox 360s in Japan, as gamers there were lining up en masse to secure the 360 exclusive RPG.

"Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara is not just a big electronics store in Tokyo, it is one of the (if not the largest) electronics stores in the world. I was there earlier this week and was pretty surprised to see that they had sold out of all versions of the Xbox 360 consoles. Looks like the Japanese have got Tales of Vesperia fever, which was recently released over here."

"Tales of Vesperia" sure has been getting some serious attention. It's one of the few games that managed to actually make the 360 sell out in Japan, and seriously drive the sales of the system with the RPG crowd. Well, Bandai-Namco certainly has taken notice to this and is offering something special to the fans.

Bandai-Namco announced a limited edition of "Tales of Vesperia" today. The special edition will come bundled with several goodies including a soundtrack, which features 25 tracks spanning across the Tales series, an artbook, and a special tin case. Preorders are now being taken for both the standard and limited edition of the game. The standard version will be $59.99 and the limited edition will be $69.99. Make sure to reserve yours soon, the game releases August 26th.

In the case of Idolm@ster it's excessive, but the publisher is giving Tales fans a break. Four packs of Tales of Vesperia downloadable content are sitting on the Japan's Xbox Live Marketplace which instantly gives players a set of restorative gummies, ingredients for item synthesis, and skills for the two main characters.

Destructoid writes:

"Take a good, long, lasting look at the above image folks, because it's not something you see every day, and it could be something you'll never see again. That is a bunch of Japanese people lining up for an Xbox 360 game -- just when you think you'd witnessed it all.

This is of course for Tales of Vesperia, with customers patiently waiting at the Akihabara Yodobashi Camera to get their hands on this exclusive new JRPG. Certainly not the biggest launch in the world, but for a 360 game, it's is as stellar as anybody could imagine.

This morning's launch was accompanied by on-stage antics that included producers Yoshito Higuchi and Tsutomu Gouda, the latter of which quipped: "Even though the Olympics are starting, everyone please enjoy playing Tales of Versperia." Pro wrestler Wataru Sakora was also present for the event.

Although hype for Vesperia isn't as mad as it would be had the game come out for the PS3 or Wii, a "steady stream" of 360 consoles are reportedly being sold. And all it took was a Japanese game in a Japanese genre made by Japanese people to do it..."

On the websites of retailers such as Walmart, the finalized boxart for Tales of Vesperia seems to have been leaked (back before Tales of the Abyss's release, the boxart was leaked on GameFly's website).

There are some small issues some people have claimed to have noticed, so it's not 100% certain that Walmart didn't take a high-quality fake from another website. We'll have to wait a few weeks to see if this leak was true or not.

Namco-Bandai Games in North America has launched a teaser page for the Tales Brigade, which seems to be somewhat of a rebirth of Tales Underground, a website that was launched to promote the series around the release of Tales of Legendia in North America.

The site plans to open in early August (around the release of Tales of Vesperia, and will have news on the games, games/quizes, as well as giveaways (which likely will be exclusives, if the former site was any indication). Consoles will also be given away if you are a registered member each month (likely up to when Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is released).
After years of High-Def in the living room being a hazy concept that really only affected A/V aficionados, the more technologically inclined, and the affluent, these videogame machines have made HD Gaming as simple and affordable as "plug n' play." But as with any consumer device, the hardware, for all its potential, is just that - untapped potential. What really brings out the true worth of the machine is the software that goes into it, and how it utilizes the power built into its system architecture.
Set to hit the Xbox 360 this year (odds are fourth quarter), Tales of Vesperia is the first Tales game to be in HD and will feature a lot of the trademark excellence that has made the series one of the most loved JRPG's around.

Music composer Motoi Sakuraba has somewhat confirmed that the recently announced Tales of Vesperia game will be released on Xbox 360. This can be concluded from his blog, where he has listed all his projects in which he participated or still is participating in. In this list we find all the Tales of games, with at the bottom Tales of Vesperia for Xbox 360, listed only for Xbox 360.

No official word has been given out by publisher Bandai Namco, but it is highly likely Tales of Vesperia will come to the Xbox 360, as an exclusive.
