Then PS3 owners got the royal treatment, plus additional content, when Vesperia was announced to be on it's way to Sony's console in time for Christmas. Preliminary sales figures for the title are in, and the early reports suggest that the title moved an astounding 147,000 copies it's first day. For reference, the XBox 360 version sold 71,000 units in it's debut and finished with 106,000 copies opening week, shifting roughly 140,000 units before dropping off charts 2 weeks later.

Responding to the complaints of Xbox 360 Tales of Vesperia beta testers, a developer has laid bare the not so shocking truth of just how Namco was paid off by Microsoft to secure an "exclusive" release, but instead merely used the Xbox subsidy to reduce development costs on the PS3 version, which it expected to sell better.

However, Sony intervened and blackmailed them into adding massive amounts of new content if they wanted to be allowed to go ahead with the PS3 release at all…

Remember the new Mystic Artes being added to the PlayStation 3 version, such as Rita Mordio's Indignation (one of the staples of the series)? It appears they were initially planned in the Xbox 360 version.

The port includes numerous extras and changes, such as a brand new character, Patty Fleur, the addition of new bosses like the Sword Dancer, Flynn being playable for more that just one battle, among other changes. The game will also be fully voiced and will include new and altered scenes, such as Yuri fighting Don Whitehorse when the party visits Keiv Moc.

More characters have been revealed to be in Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~, thanks to an update on the official website.

The movie will be a prequel to the game, focusing on Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo's past when they were in the Imperial Knights. Estelle, Raven, and Rita Mordio have been confirmed to have roles in the movie.

Kotaku: Sure, Namco Bandai's latest Tales RPG had to settle for a fourth place finish, but it faced strong competition. Phantasy Star Portable, with its Monster Hunter Portable-like appeal, still holds down the number one spot, with the newest Fire Emblem and Rhythm Tengoku Gold placing and showing, respectively, with well over one hundred thousand units sold. Tales of Vesperia's 100K-plus debut week is certainly going to move some Xbox 360s in Japan, as gamers there were lining up en masse to secure the 360 exclusive RPG.

"Tales of Vesperia" sure has been getting some serious attention. It's one of the few games that managed to actually make the 360 sell out in Japan, and seriously drive the sales of the system with the RPG crowd. Well, Bandai-Namco certainly has taken notice to this and is offering something special to the fans.

Bandai-Namco announced a limited edition of "Tales of Vesperia" today. The special edition will come bundled with several goodies including a soundtrack, which features 25 tracks spanning across the Tales series, an artbook, and a special tin case. Preorders are now being taken for both the standard and limited edition of the game. The standard version will be $59.99 and the limited edition will be $69.99. Namco Bandai isn't shy about adding downloadable content to their Xbox 360 games. In the case of Idolm@ster it's excessive, but the publisher is giving Tales fans a break. Four packs of Tales of Vesperia downloadable content are sitting on the Japan's Xbox Live Marketplace which instantly gives players a set of restorative gummies, ingredients for item synthesis, and skills for the two main characters.

On the websites of retailers such as Walmart, the finalized boxart for Tales of Vesperia seems to have been leaked (back before Tales of the Abyss's release, the boxart was leaked on GameFly's website).

There are some small issues some people have claimed to have noticed, so it's not 100% certain that Walmart didn't take a high-quality fake from another website. We'll have to wait a few weeks to see if this leak was true or not.

Namco-Bandai Games in North America has launched a teaser page for the Tales Brigade, which seems to be somewhat of a rebirth of Tales Underground, a website that was launched to promote the series around the release of Tales of Legendia in North America.

The site plans to open in early August (around the release of Tales of Vesperia, and will have news on the games, games/quizes, as well as giveaways (which likely will be exclusives, if the former site was any indication). Consoles will also be given away if you are a registered member each month (likely up to when Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is released).

Gamers will be getting their Japanese role-playing game fix on the Xbox 360 soon. Japanese Xbox 360 gamers will also be getting a taste of US and European developed RPGs. At the "Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008" event in Shibuya, Tokyo today, release dates on upcoming Xbox 360 RPGs from Square Enix, Namco Bandai and Microsoft Game Studios were revealed.

Microsoft has released further details of the titles it hopes will ignite the Xbox 360's ailing sales in Japan at a press event in Tokyo today.

At the Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008 stage show, Corporation executives introduced a number of games to be released in the territory in the next 12-18 months, including projects from both Namco Bandai and Square Enix.

Namco just confirmed that a demo of RPG Tales of Vesperia will be released in June on Xbox Live, although it's unclear which regions will enjoy the taster.

Namco producer Yoshito Higuchi gave the details at the Microsoft's ongoing Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008 event in Tokyo.

The internet excitedly responded to Namco Bandai's recent presentation to the press, which showed Tales of Vesperia as both an Xbox 360 and PS3 game. The long-running RPG series has a strong fan following, but Microsoft secured exclusivity for the game. Since then, Namco Bandai has revised its presentation, removing mention of a PS3 version, apologizing for the confusion.

The latest issue of PLAY Magazine has details on the latest Tales game, and it just so happens to be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. Set to hit the Xbox 360 this year (odds are fourth quarter), Tales of Vesperia is the first Tales game to be in HD and will feature a lot of the trademark excellence that has made the series one of the most loved JRPG's around.

Music composer Motoi Sakuraba has somewhat confirmed that the recently announced Tales of Vesperia game will be released on Xbox 360. This can be concluded from his blog, where he has listed all his projects in which he participated or still is participating in. In this list we find all the Tales of games, with at the bottom Tales of Vesperia for Xbox 360, listed only for Xbox 360.

No official word has been given out by publisher Bandai Namco, but it is highly likely Tales of Vesperia will come to the Xbox 360, as an exclusive.
