Electronic Arts has released details on the next Skate 2 DLC and if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's why as of tomorrow, you will be able to download the Tony Hawk Content Pack for Skate 2. EA has worked out a limited deal with Activision allowing for not only the usage of Tony Hawk himself, but the recreation of a few classic spots from previous Tony Hawk games. Included in the DLC pack is the Hangar in Mullet Falls from THPS2, and the all-time classic Warehouse from THPS1.

When Skate 2 was released for the PS3 back in January many PS3 users were a littl let down by the fact that the game didn't support Custom Soundtracks. Thankfully EA and the developers at Black Box listened and Custom Soundtrack support will be added via the game's latest update which will be made available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 23. Besides adding Custom Soundtrack support for the PS3 version the patch includes a bevy of fixes including improved off-board control and fixing some exploits that were in various modes. EA spread the word today on their Skate 2 blog that they have a patch coming out soon. They seem to be really happy with the patch and what they were able to accomplish. They tweaked off the board controls, made a bunch of fixes for online, added in-game custom soundtrack support for PS3 users and more!

"Microsoft is celebrating a 53 percent year-over-year spike in Xbox 360 sales following the release of February's NPD results, which saw sales of the console hit 391,000 units.

The company says Xbox 360's "record-setting" sales pace is largely due to its lower price and value proposition, plus its software library. Comparing Metacritic scores, the company says 135 Xbox 360 games score 80 or higher, versus 94 for rival PlayStation 3."

SCRAWL: "Over at our Xbox 360's calendar of events, a new Download and Win event has been posted and features none other than the demo for Skate 2. According to the posting you'll have to download the demo between January 8 and January 15 in order to enter the contest, meaning that the demo will arrive on or before January 8. EA has sent word today that their Skate 2 Graphics Creator application has launched. Users will be able to go to this website and create graphics and images that can be uploaded to the game's apparel and gear. The site itself features some of the most recently added user creations as well as some of the highest rated designs right there on the front page. EA has just announced that Skate 2 will be available for purchase on Jan. 21 in the US and Jan. 23 around the rest of the world. That isn't all the news though. The guys behind Skate 2 have created a Graphics Creator over at Skate.com that let's you design t-shirt and board designs. IGN: "Today we received boxed retail copies of Mirror's Edge in the office. Our full review of the game is embargoed for a couple weeks, but that didn't stop us from rifling through the included manual and an interesting sell sheet. Said sheet has an ad for Need for Speed Undercover on one side, and Skate 2 on the other. In the bottom-left corner of the Skate 2 ad is a little tag that not so subtly says "In Stores January 2009". It doesn't get any more official than that.

We talked to EA about the matter, and the timing is indeed set, though we don't have a specific date as of yet. But at least we now know we'll be revisiting San Vanelona in less than 90 days."

Taking us way back to 1988, Skate 2 features some great old skool songs that include McRad's Weakness. Don't you remember watching Public Domain and hearing that song? Come on, Chuck Treece on the guitar?? What about Suicidal Tendencies Possessed to Skate? Either you were in diapers or you're a poser. Pfft.

videogamer.com writes: Black Box has revealed the soundtracks for upcoming extreme sports video games Skate It and Skate 2.

The soundtrack for Skate 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3 will feature 52 songs from some of music's most celebrated artists including Black Sabbath, Public Enemy, Judas Priest and Wu-Tang Clan.

"The soundtracks for Skate It and Skate 2 builds upon last year's critically acclaimed Skate soundtrack," said Chris Parry, associate producer. "The songs reflect the culture of skateboarding, with some tracks picked by the pros themselves, and others coming straight out of iconic skate videos. Skateboarding today is an eclectic mix of people and influences and this is true of where we took this year's soundtracks. PS3 Lead Platform for Skate 2 Due to Criticisms (News)

Black Box has confirmed that the PS3 will be the lead format for Skate 2, due to criticisms levelled at its predecessor.

Speaking to GAMER.tm recently, Black Box producer Jason DeLong confirmed that the PS3 version of Skate 2 would be the lead version of the game, after the PS3 version of Skate 1 was criticised for not being as good as its 360 counterpart.

Videogamer writes: "EA's Black Box has today announced it will be partnering with leading global action sports footwear and apparel brand, etnies, to bring their Goofy vs. Regular (GvR) skateboarding contest to Skate 2. In-game players will lead a team of goofy foot or regular pros as they compete in the ultimate team competition.

'The Skate franchise has always been committed to showcasing the spirit and soul of skateboard culture," said executive producer, Scott Blackwood. "The etnies GvR competition celebrates the fun, creativity and talent in skateboarding today. Recently, EA announced it was working on Skate 2 for PS3 and Xbox 360. And that's about all EA was willing to say about the sequel. However, the official Skate website has several teaser videos. None show gameplay, but two of the videos provide hints on the setup for Skate 2.
