Harmonix has already stated that Metallica and The Who will be included in the "weekly downloadable content" as full downloadable albums. Nirvana has also been included in the mix, adding their classic album Nevermind.
Electronic Arts has addressed the USD 199 price point that retailers recently applied to the company's upcoming Rock Band title, insisting it is nothing more than "pure speculation."
Rock Band pre-orders were made available yesterday, and the $199 Rock Band Collection has already made an appearance on the Amazon Top Sellers list!
Amazon.com has posted listings for the Rock Band Collection for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, and it comes to no surprise to anyone involved that the set isn't going to be cheap. $200 will snag you a copy of the game, the drum set, a microphone, and either a wireless guitar for the PS3 or a wired one for the Xbox 360, with a potential release date of November 20th, which we'll consider speculation until we hear something official. Breaking it down, with the game at $60, the mic at $30, drums at $80 and the guitar at $60, it works out to a savings of some $30 on the overall price, as well as a very sad bassist. Adding in another guitar brings the grand total to $260 or $280 if you opt for the 360's wireless version, keeping things pretty much in line with current speculation. Mind you the prices are still subject to change, and even now these could just be placeholders, but it certainly seems reasonable.
New screen shots and Rock band final trailer were made available July 18, 2007 on Planet Xbox 360 website.
The Booth Babes may be gone, but the games have not!
So many games, so little time, which games does, E3 consider the top five games to look out for...
Remembering the recently leaked price memo, you may recall that the wireless 360 guitar was listed at $79.99 while the PS3 guitar was listed at $59.99. Some have speculated that the 360 discrepancy is the result of having to pay Microsoft to use its proprietary wireless technology.
The Rock Band and Bethesda parties were crazy last night -- and everyone is ready to go back to work this morning. The analysts who look into their crystal ball and tell us the future seem to be liking Rock Band, the next game from Harmonix. This morning, outside the EA room at LeMerigot, a cluster of analysts were talking and one mentioned the game, "Rock Band, I was watching them play. This guy, on the drums, I mean, you have to be good."
Rock Band served as the tail end of EA's E3 press conference, and they made sure to save a few announcements for last. CEO of Harmonix, Alex Rigopulos announced that Rock Band will receive downloadable content every single week after its initial release. Even better, he announced that players not only be able to download single songs and multi-song packs, but entire albums. The first album that will be available for download is The Who's Who's Next. Finally, Rigopulos announced that Rock Band musicians will at last be jamming to Metallica. It was revealed that Metallica's "Enter Sandman" will ship with the retail version of Rock Band with many more career-spanning tracks coming as downloadable content.
The inaugural E3 Business & Media Summit is just days away now, and such important gaming events usually prompt enough speculative chatter to kick start our efficient Rumour Mill into complete overdrive. The first significant arrival in terms of E3 rumours is the claim that Harmonix's Rock Band will appear exclusively (for a limited time) on the Microsoft Xbox 360 when it is launched later this year.
It's no secret that Guitar Hero appealed to both hardcore and casual gamers alike. Croal believes that hardcore fans will dish out money to purchase the full experience Rock Band has to offer, while their casual friends will walk in to play along before deciding to get their own set of peripherals.Ubisoft is unavoidable when speaking of third-parties. Analysts find Ubisoft to be very inventive, which will put pressure on EA. Assassin's Creed is currently a big question mark, but everyone expects it to be very big...
Here's the invitation for the Rock Band party at E3, which from all appearances is the biggest, must-be-there event of the show. Question: in the giant pile of logos that appear on the bottom of the invitation, which is conspicuous by its absence?
Nailing down a Rock Band peripheral price has been almost as difficult as explaining how Keith Richards is still alive. An employee of Game Crazy sent Joystiq a printout of the pricing list which they received on July 3. The only thing that really jumps out is the Xbox 360 guitar price being $20 more than the PS3 (more on this in a second). Much of the information is still in line with the GameStop pricing reported months ago. Officially a Harmonix representative says, "We have not released any pricing details regarding Rock Band as of yet, but stay tuned."
