Paul W.S. Anderson tells Shock Till You Drop that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be his 4th RE film, but not a sequel. Instead the series will be revamped and start as a whole new trilogy. Afterlife will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will see the return of old characters and new ones. The film will also be joining that whole 3D fad that decided to rear its head up from the 70's.

"I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films, "he said. "And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."

Our guess is that Paul will take the Fast And Furious approach; by having a film that ignores previous events and rewrites the series history. This is good news for die hard Resident Evil fans. Maybe, just maybe we can have a RE film that doesn't stray so far from the source material. We're looking at you Extinction.

Sumthing Else Music Works, in collaboration with Capcom, have announced that the Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack is now available at retailers and as a digital download.

Resident Evil 5 has sold 1.5 million copies across North America in March alone. This is according to the latest report from the NPD Group.

Resident Evil 5 went on sale across the US on the 13th of March and according to Capcom it has also been "crushing in Europe and Japan as well."

The code for Resident Evil 5's versus mode feature is small, tiny for two competitive online modes. Seeing a 1.8MB file for Xbox 360 owners and a 351KB download on the PS3 led to discussion that the versus mode was not a new feature with its own budget as a Capcom previously commented.

Capcom Vice President Christian Svensson stands his ground and says, "Keys are 100K or less. It is not a key. We have said in the past, it uses assets from the disc (like levels, models, audio, etc.) but the code is new and does not exist on the disc."

The original quote about the PDLC is that it "makes use of the assets that exist in the game [but] the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope of Resident Evil 5." That's an impressive amount of functionality for 1.86 MB."
