At the same time, Onechanbara: vorteX promises a little more than just endless hack-and-slash. All those coins you collect can be used to power up your heroines at the end of each stage, which in turn gives them wicked new combos, slash moves and, in Anna's case, acrobatic bullet-ballet maneuvers. You'll also be able to customize the girls with new outfits and hairstyles, which grant them cool new abilities.

The undead, for their part, can take a disturbing amount of punishment - as you lay into them, you'll gradually dismember them to the point where they're just walking pairs of legs that make feeble attempts to kick you. All the flying gore serves a purpose, too; if Aya or Saki get soaked with enough of the stuff, they'll briefly be able to turn into super-powerful zombies themselves and go on a rampage. Their health drops quickly until they touch a holy statue to bring themselves back to life, however, so it's best to save that power for tougher challenges.
