The "Survival Pack" downloadable content for Valve's cooperative zombie shooter Left 4 Dead will be free for both PC and Xbox 360 players, the company confirmed today.

Due out this spring, the download will add a new Survival mode, in which players attempt to survive endless hordes of zombies on at least 12 maps, and allow the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns to be played in the competitive multiplayer Versus mode.

This Friday's episode of GameTrailers TV promises us a look at two highly anticipated downloads for both Grand Theft Auto IV and Left 4 Dead, including exclusive footage of "what's next" for the latter.

We really hope that means that Valve will explain what that recently announced "Survival" gameplay mode is all about and clear up any possible confusion about the two additional versus campaigns coming to Left 4 Dead.

Friday's episode, airing at the wee hours of 1 AM on Spike TV, will also give us a better look at Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, which is just around the corner. Valve has brushed off new rumours (again) of a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead, sparked by a rather decisive listing on a UK retailer website.

With not just a PS3 version listed, but a release date of June 5, EA down as the label and even the ability to pre-order the game right now, HMV seems pretty sure it's happening. More than an easily-missed typo-o, anyway.

Valve's cooperative zombie-shooter Left 4 Dead sold 1.8 million copies at retailers worldwide in 2008, distributor Electronic Arts revealed in a conference call today.

The figure accounts for retail sales of the PC and Xbox 360 versions, but does not include those copies sold via Valve's digital distribution platform Steam.

Update : I took this picture with my friend camera as of today! I'm having troubles taking the right photo with my old phone. Ebgames & Gamestop are indeed accepting pre-orders for PS3 Left 4 Dead.

This is exclusive to N4G! I recently just called up Ebgames and Best Buy and they have indeed confirmed there accepting PS3 version of Left 4 Dead as of "1.15.09" I have also taken a picture of my reserve ticket which I will be uploading soon.

This was quoted from Valve back in 08. "Left 4 Dead doesn't have that guaranteed appeal yet-it's a new IP... If Left 4 Dead is big, then we may see a PS3 version later, or if and when we do a sequel, people may be more interested in that."

By now Left 4 Dead has had enough publicity for people to know that it's an exclusive to the 360. Now, that may have changed. A N4G poster by the handle of "Graphics Whore" has stated that the zombie killing mayhem may have found it's way to PS3.
