Rockstar Games has lifted the lid on its latest project, LA Noire - a next-gen crime thriller that the publisher is billing as 'an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940s'.
Developed by Australian-based studio, Team Bondi (which was founded by Brendan McNamara, director of Sony's cockney flavoured gangsta-'em-up, The Getaway), LA Noire promises a deadly cocktail of action and sleuthing as it invites the player into its open-ended world of corruption, drugs and jazz (not necessarily in that order) to solve a series of grisly murders.
While Rockstar is keeping further LA Noire details in the shadows for now, we're hoping that - besides a striking cinematic style - the game will feature many film noir traits, such as the cynical private dick, some delicious femme fatale 'interest', plot-shifting flashbacks and, of course, moody voiceover narration.
Just touted as a 'next-generation title' by Rockstar (and with no clue of a release date), we're anticipating that LA Noire will make it to both PS3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar has promised that a trailer for the game will be available on 5 October and we'll be following LA Noire's trail closely, so stick with GamesRadar for further info...
