At one of the fine people before me, you don't just get all the DLC maps, you get 3 new maps along with all the old ones.

About the article, yeah, I want the game, I honestly don't care how bad a game looks (I'm still playing Fable 1, and Halo 1) not cause they're pretty but because they're great games.

I also dislike all those fancy smancy graphics as they always pop in and sometimes dont load.

Loved halo from the start, and i'm just glad that they're still making games for the 360.

Why buy this, an ATTEMPT at an open world Halo, when you can have Crackdown 2?

i think that health will be a great idea. i missed the whole halo experience my first play-through because i just ran around, invincible, and slaughtered grunts. maybe with health ill get to see more of the gameplay. and if you dont like halo why are you reading this article? go make people bored somewhere else. good article gr.

Hmm...

I don't recall having ever seen any film noir's or detective stories that featured elite assault teams having firefights with alien invaders over wartorn urban environments, but okay.

Also, I really wish that Bungie would start expanding on some new God-damn IPs.
What with this and Halo Reach, it just feels like they've condoned to the EA formula of "continue to release same game over and over again with minor changes".

Right now, they're just surfing on Halo's (arguably disproportionate) popularity, and I get the feeling that this isn't going to change anytime soon and we're going to see a lot more Halo spin-offs.

Double post but:

@GoldenMe

I read your post and re-read the preview and yes, I must admit that it strikes me as rather gushy and effusive.
Phrases like "flawless level design" and "perfect shootouts" shouldn't be thrown around like candy - especially when this is just a preview.
Furthermore, I've played many sandbox games (GTA IV, Saint's Row 2, Mercenaries 2, etc.) and I can definitely say that none of them are flawless in terms of level design, and all of them have been made by developers who are familiar with creating sandbox games.
As such, I highly doubt that a company which specialises in FPSes is going to nail this tricky genre seamlessly with its first sandbox game, where so many have failed.

Also, and while this may be a petty complaint, there was nothing "clever" about the gimmicky flashback design; it's been done before and done better (see Second Sight for instance).

Since I'm more of a fan to Halo's story than it's gameplay, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this game as much as the others.

P.S. How does the Rookie have flash backs when he sees something like a broken bridge?

I don't know what to get halo 3 ODST with money leftover or modern warfare 2 prestige edition with those beastly night vision goggles!?

@jar-head

Well, since ODST is coming out before Reach and since Reach is probably still going through production or debugging, I would say that ODST is, in fact, their first attempt at a sandbox game.

Not @jar-head

I don't see why some people are making a big deal over the loss of Master Chief's attributes. You play as an ODST, which is not a Spartan. You shouldn't possess shields, the ability to jump high, or the ability to dual wield-accurately at least. You play as someone else so you can learn more about the story through the eyes of another person involved.

I think that there will be some form of regeneration. But I think you will lose health and slowly regain it later. It will be like in Mass Effect when you have Medical Interfaces equipped to your armor.

Playing as an ODST might give you the feeling of hopelessness since you know you are a regular human with combat training. And after you defeat all of the Covenant forces, you might have a better feeling about doing so.

I think ODST will go great. Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 have all been dissed. ODST isn't going to be perfect just like all the others weren't. The only reason that everyone thinks that ODST should be the best game ever or it will fail is because Bungie is taking a risk and people don't like the change.

That is my opinion at least.

@Everyone who can't get this right for some reason.

I forgot something. On one disk you get with ODST, it will contain everything new to ODST. Which is the campaign and the Horde-type mode.

On the second disk, there will be everything pertaining to Halo 3. Which is all of the older maps, all of the DLC, and the three new maps which are part of the Mythic expansion. The only reason there is a disk containing all of the maps is so you can pop it in the tray and play Halo 3 multiplayer. You can't fully enjoy it without all of the maps so they did you a favor. And, like my Halo 3 disk, yours might need a break from constantly spinning in your disk tray. My Halo 3 will be able to watch some other disk do it's work while it rest on the trophy shelf above my TV.

I am glad to see that sanbox games are catching on. I was so sick of games like COD where there was only one way to complete each mission with no tactics involved. thats why I loved the Halo SP's. they really let you play the way you want to play.

only thing that kinda annoys me is the whole two disks thing, I dont wana have to change my disk to play multiplayer...
