this is a good game all the missions are the same.
the ai spots you very fast even when your in the dead of the night and they can see you behind objects.
The traveling from one place to another is terrably borring like reality.
though your allies shoot you on the first sight of you it is still fun.
You get to create your own maps which is hard and funny.
The graphics are eye popping.
(WARNING: NEVER EVER PUT THE DIFFICULTY ON MEDIAN OR HARD IT TAKES AWAY THE CROSSHAIRS AND MAKES YOU HAVE MOTION SICKNESS AND HAVE A HIGH CHANCE AT VOINTING ALL OVER THAT $5ooo HD TV YOU HAVE.)
I bought Far Cry almost on a whim. I'd heard about it before, but I didn't really know what it was about. I bought it anyway and gave it a chance. I have to say, this is the absolute most beautiful game I have ever played. The graphics are insane, especially on my 37" flat screen in HD. Walking for miles and miles to get to places isn't as boring as doomdoomdoom said, at least to me. (You can drive, or boat-but I prefer to walk and swim. Vehicles seem to attract enemies.. I learned that the hard way.) The enviroment is always changing, and always in top-notch detail, and always incredibly beautiful, and so real. Not to mention the african wildlife milling about. To a person who can appreciate things like that, it will never get old. Now, I read your guys' review, and..I really don't see where you got 'giant learning curve' from. If there is one, I didn't find it. I found it easy to get into. The controls are standard, everything is familiar in that respect. To anyone who plays FPS's anyway. The enemies, so far, have been pretty smart-but they aren't perfect. Stupid AI still acts stupid sometimes. It may be a strategy-inclined game, but you can still survive, with the right equipment, by running and gunning. I haven't gotten far into the storyline so I can't comment on that just yet.
Now, online. Something must have went terribly terribly wrong in that department. For one thing, there is no permanent ranking system. You start over at rank 1 every time you log on. That's incredibly depressing. You have to start with the default weapons every time, only to earn better weapons, and then to have them taken away again. And rank, thats a big thing to have in an online game. Gamers are competitive. They like to know who they are better than, and who is better than them. Its motivation. It keeps them playing. They want to be the best. Far Cry is lacking that competitive motivation. and that nearly kills its online experience. To add to that, they do have great maps, that are as beautiful as the game itself, except, no one plays on them. Why? Because of the map editor. For some reason every single online game I have played, its been on a custom map. Which would be fine, except the home-made maps look..really, really bad. And some of them play even worse than they look. I think its fine that people make their own maps, thats great..but please, dont make me play on them. I have yet to play a single online match on an official map. I've created my own matches on them..but nobody joins. Thats a mystery I'm still trying to figure out.
Overall, I think the main game is wonderful, exciting, and smooth. It's nearly perfect. The online, however..well..it's no Call of Duty 4. That aggravates me. It has so much potential. All squandered. I truly think it could have been great, with a few..or several..tweaks. Such a shame..
well at least it beats fucking madden football and the fucking wii
Well CandiedJester If you played it as long as me you will start to agree that travelinga long buetiful distance to get to one spot to another and being shot it the ass and dieing really gets peoples fucking nerves up.
