Last year's Battlestations: Midway came out to somewhat mixed reviews after an incredibly long gestation period which included multiple moves to different publishers. Once Eidos actually released the game, it seemed as if many gamers didn't really know what to do with it. It was a WWII flying game crossed with a naval tactics simulator that let the player switch freely between all the units he was commanding on a large and dynamic battlefield. Perhaps the learning curve was too steep, or World War two games are just a little played out for most gamers right now. But there was a significant portion of gamers (including yours truly) who really dug the game, appreciated its well-blended approach to including action and strategy equally in a game, and were glad to finally be playing a WWII game not set in the hedgerows of France. Those fans formed a community and that community clamored for a sequel. Eidos listened, and is now ready to present them with one: Battlestations: Pacific.
Finally, after themes and pin-ups, we get to see some more World War II shooting action. Not that we have any complaints about them pin-up girls.

Anyhow, the Iowa Mission Pack is available for 400 points, so that shouldn't weigh so much on your Microsoft pockets. As promised earlier, this mission pack will be including new stuff, like the multiplayer map for the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea, as well as the single player challenge mission, Raid on Truk. Also, you will find here five new exclusive units in the form of the USS Iowa battleship, P-38 Lightning (Allied) and Gekko (Japanese) fighters, the IJN Shimakaze Destroyer, and the new Japanese mini-sub.
Eidos is viewing the success of its naval combat game Battlestations: Midway as reason to warrant a sequel, it's emerged. It was also reaffirmed in the report that a Just Cause sequel is in development.

Eidos was unavailable for comment on either sequel at the time of writing, however the producer on Battlestations: Midway, Klaude Thomas, did hint at potential content for a follow-up when we talked to him at the end of last year. It's likely that the sequel will be returning us to WWII, ...

Eidos is at number one in the all-formats chart this week with Battlestations: Midway, which beat Little Britain: The Video Game to the top spot by just 1000 units.

Mastertronic's TV tie-in takes second place, meaning that there are two UK publishers riding high at the top of the charts - a rare occurrence, according to data providers Chart-Track.

FIFA '07 is a non-mover at No. 3, but Pro Evo 6 drops two places to No. 4. There's another small margin here, with just 50 units of difference between Little Britain and PES.
Calling it “the Pacific theater” always seems somewhat disrespectful. Yet for Battlestations: Midway, the name is all too appropriate. Here, the Second World War really is the greatest show on earth.

At its best, the game offers a string of unique sensations, and manages to convey the sheer scale of war. Seeing a good couple of dozen planes flying in formation towards a naval base - literally filling the sky - and then scattering as you swoop in to engage them in your fighter, is ...
Battlestations: Midway is a boot camp in extreme multi-tasking - as our earlier hands-on time with the game proved. The WWII simulator doesn't just offer epic helpings of both action and strategy, it expects you to master and execute the two styles of gameplay simultaneously. Apparently, those incapable of walking and chewing gum at the same time should not be put in command of history-altering global warfare.

This holds true for multiplayer as well, which we quickly discovered when publisher ...
Eidos has had a tough time getting its WWII shooter/strategy game Battlestations: Midway to see the light of day. After years in development, Battlestations: Midway has been pushed back yet again... all the way to 2007. While originally scheduled to release on PC, Xbox and PS2, the 2007 release will see some upgrades as it debuts on PC and Xbox 360 instead.

We know how this must break your poor, little gaming-hearts, so we begged Eidos for something we could give you as a sign of good faith. ...
Taking advantage of Microsoft's next-generation video game and entertainment system, Battlestations: Midway on Xbox 360 delivers a genuinely new and exciting single and multiplayer gameplay experience.

Battlestations: Midway follows the story of naval recruit Henry Walker, whose first assignment as a gunner at Pearl Harbor is the starting point of an incredible career at the heart of the US Pacific Fleet in 1942, in what was to become one of the most inspirational military campaigns in history.
Thursday 11 May 2006
After leaving PS2, Gizmondo and Xbox versions in its wake, BattleStations: Midway has again surfaced as an Xbox 360 and PC-only mixture of strategy and shooting.

After finding the safe harbour of Eidos from the scuttled SCi, BattleStations: Midway has returned to allow you to fight the epic aerial and naval World War II battles from the opening of the war in the Pacific at Pearl Harbour, through the Philippines and into the campaign's turning point at the island of ...
Battlestations: Midway has been around for quite a while, starting life as a game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. But now it's hitting the big time on the Xbox 360.

Before you roll your eyes at the thought of another WWII game (the most played-out game setting on Earth, next to the mean gangsta-ridden streets of Big City, USA), know that Battlestations is a bit different. Rather than a simple first-person shooter or squad-based first-person shooter, Battlestations is a ...
