Alien Hominid HD - Xbox Live Arcade

Alien Hominid dated for Live Arcade

Cult side-scrolling shooter hits 360 this Wednesday

Microsoft has revealed (accidentally, that is) the identity of this week's Xbox Live Arcade release, the long-awaited update of cult shooter Alien Hominid, now in HD.

The news comes from a 1UP interview with Xbox group product manager Aaron Greenberg, who says that Microsoft is "excited to make up for lost time" by bringing the cult shooter to the 360 download service this Wednesday.

The game, in case you're not aware of it, has you blasting through Metal Slug-style side-scrolling levels as a little yellow alien who's been shot down by the FBI. In its original flash game form, Alien Hominid managed to rack up over 11 million downloads. If anything, the hand-drawn chracters, the crazy weapons and bizarre sense of humor contributed to the game's charm and massive fan following. Though it should be noted that it didn't cost 800 Microsoft points back then.
