Woman goes into labor at first glimpse of Skyrim's Frost Dragon

Bethesda has been working on Skyrim since 2008. The game will feature noticeably different design and gameplay mechanics from its predecessor, Oblivion, and – crucial for the fantasy lovers making up the game's fanbase – will have freakin' dragons in it. Stevi and Chaz, who got engaged at 2010's QuakeCon, have been anticipating a baby for around nine months. The child is expected to feature ten fingers, ten toes, wide-eyed newborn innocence, all the usual baby stuff. Obviously, if the arrival of the child threatens to conflict with the first glimpse of Bethesda's title, something's got to wait – and they've been looking forward to Skyrim for longer.

“During the demo, Todd Howard showed off the Frost Dragon,” recalls Skyrim player-to-be and new father Chaz. “Seeing this must have filled Stevi with so much excitement that it sent her into labor.” Figuring it might be a false alarm, the couple waited until the end of the presentation, reasoning that Stevi “is a trooper and loves Skyrim.” While the first look at Bethesda's game –which has plenty of footage available online, supplemented by more footage in the lead up to the game's November release – might have postponed the couple's acknowledgement of the impending birth, any questions as to the couple's priorities were put to rest as they rushed to hospital to get the character-creation underway. We join them in welcoming daughter Atari Lynn into the world.

That is going to be the coolest kid ever, except for the thousand kids born on the release date of the game of course.
  • mausjake - August 9, 2011 11:28 a.m.

I almost feel bad for them because isn't Bethesda holding a competition for the first child born on 11-11-11?
  • taterboob - August 9, 2011 6:58 a.m.

Atari huh? I love games and all, but I could never do that to a kid. Dreamcast, on the other hand...
  • Gob - August 8, 2011 11:49 p.m.

Atari is an awesome name, come to think of it. It seems like it would work fine for both sexes. Will consider, if and when the time comes to name a kid.

Wait is this that new game coming out from the Minecraft guys? I get so confused by the similar names...
  • KNITEpanda - August 8, 2011 9:38 p.m.

@Dman3981, There is nothing wrong with the name Atari, it fits a girl perfectly. Who cares if its a console or a word in another language. There is no such thing as a "normal" name.
  • jackthemenace - August 8, 2011 9:34 p.m.

Man, she couldn't have just held on until November and named it Donakhin!? Yeah, I forgot how to spell it. But I still prefer the name Zelda to Atari.
  • Bobishungry - August 8, 2011 9:20 p.m.

@Dman3981 they named the baby atari after the actual meaning of the word which in some language is something like hitting a target. Still kinda wierd though.

@db1331 I knew I couldn't be the only one to think of that deal when I read this.
  • StrayGator - August 8, 2011 9:16 p.m.

    oh, the link. right.
  • StrayGator - August 8, 2011 9:15 p.m.

Suddenly I realised that Atari was a hebrew name all along.
  • Dman3981 - August 8, 2011 9:05 p.m.

Parents, please don't be cruel and name your kid some weird name like Apple or some sort of video game reference. Just give them a damn normal name so they can live their childhood normally.
  • Hoody - August 8, 2011 9:02 p.m.

  • db1331 - August 8, 2011 8:33 p.m.

Noob. She should have held out for 11.11.11 to get that free games for life deal Bethesda promised.
  • Yaro - August 8, 2011 8:17 p.m.

I read Atari Lynx.....that'd be pretty bad...
  • ThatFanInThePeacoat - August 8, 2011 8:16 p.m.

100% understandable. If I had a uterus it would be in disarray upon witnessing the awesome might of the Skyrim trailer.
  • thatnerdguy1 - August 8, 2011 8:13 p.m.
