Here in the UK we sometimes share the Japanese covers and we sometimes share the NA covers and then sometimes just for whatever reason we get our very own cover. for example, heavy rain, the UK release doesn't use either of the covers shown above, it's basically just an origami with the games title. I've always found US covers to be the less appealing of all, and not just with games but with things like books as well. Seriously, the US Harry Potter books are covered in some of the most ridiculously ugly artworks ever and using that childish logo from the movies?? Eeeew.

........The logo on the books was adapted to the movies......not the other way around.....

And going on that I personally like the NA covers more than some of the UK ones. The only one that really missed it imo is Goblet of Fire, the rest are fine though.

Kirby is apparently really angry about being in America. It must be a pretty angry place by comparison to Japan.

You guys should do an article on the difference between Japanese titles and NA titles.

I actually like the NA version of kirby air ride cause when you listen to the main menu music it's damn near as bad ass as his facial expression

But why is he always mad in the NA version?

I have to disagree on the Silent Hill and Skyward Sword ones but otherwise I love the that Japanese ones still use artists and illustrators instead of cobbling together in-game renders. In general I find that the American box arts tend to look cluttered whereas the Japanese ones are a bit more subtle. European box art is closer to Japanese box art if anything - mostly kind of minimal. The European Heavy Rain box for example is just the origami crane with the rain (which is embossed on the special edition). The Final Fantasy boxes are usually the same for JP/EU as well, favouring the Amano artwork on a white background (XIII being the exception)

I just noticed that the Wii U logo is different on the injustice art. It's colored a dark blue gradient instead of the normal flat light blue. It's a slight difference but it does look a bit nicer. Are all Japanese Wii u games like that?

I think the North American cover art for Shadow of Colossus looks better. The Japanese cover art just looks like a poster for a low budget horror movie from the 70's. (which is kind of cool in it's own way) But even if you do think that's scary I don't get why you would think that's a better choice of cover art for a game like Shadow of the Colossus. It's not a horror game. It's a story in the style of David and Goliath, it's game about a man who fights a battle against all odds and the North American box art depicts that way better. They even chose it for the HD remake.

Yeah, I think in the Japanese box art they were trying to play up the, "you're the bad guy," note but it sends a mixed message.

    Way to recycle material.

To me, most of the boxes in this article are more like one billionth better or worse than their western counterparts. Guess the best ones were already used in an earlier article. Still, I'll always get a laugh from Evil Kirby.

Damn, batman on the japanese injustice cover does have some serious swag. I just looked at it in awe for about a full 30 seconds.

to be honest some were about even, others i thought the American version was better. but the Japanese version of injustice was FUCKIN SICK!!!!

Not sure about the rest of the world but in Australia we had both Skyward Sword boxes - the Japanese, colourful one for the regular version and the Gold one for the special addition that comes with the Nintendo orchestra CD

seriously, do journalists just not need grammar any more? slide 2: one and the same, not one in the same. doesn't even make sense. slide 10: colossi is PLURAL. slide 16 and 17 were stupid because he showed how the NA ones were better, then disagreed with himself.

Try writing a letter to the editor then instead of attempting to publicly disparage Charlie Barratt. You could've just clicked on his name and messaged him.

I like how you updated the article but how did you not include the awesome wind waker HD Japanese box art that is guaranteed to be better then anything we get? Also nice touch you kept the old article
