What is Shark Week?

Before man invented fire and before dinosaurs roamed the land, sharks ruled our oceans. With no remorse and no mercy, these cold blooded killers have been commanding their aquatic kingdom with an iron dorsal fin, feeding on the weak, and growing stronger in preparation for their inevitable assault against all bi-pedal land-based mammals.

Until now, the sharks have been biding their time, making conspicuous appearances in nature documentary specials, Hollywood movies, videogames, and our favorite episode of Happy Days. Like true predators, they have been coyly playing with their future food, luring us into a false sense of security - and convincing us that mankind still sits safely on top of the food chain. But we know what these beady-eyed beasts are really up to. With each passing day, the shark apocalypse draws nearer, and every breath we take as free men could be our last. That’s why GamesRadar is taking an emergency timeout next week to teach you everything you need to know about sharks.

Above: The shark apocalypse is imminent. Prepare yourself

So get ready to sink your teeth into delicious features covering the deadliest in-game shark attacks, test your knowledge of toothsome shark sprites, and educate yourself on the proper use of a Game Shark. While you’re at it, spend a moment each day to think about how each of our dangerous game-themed features can help you survive a real life emergency. We wish we could speak more directly about the imminent threat sharks pose to humanity and what you can do about it, but we’ve just learned that the sharks now have access to the internet. They’re studying us for signs of weakness, you see. So unfortunately, it’ll be up to you to connect the dots and decipher our coded warnings yourself. But make no mistake. It’s only a matter of time before the sharks break free from their salty sea prison. We just hope that it’s not too late for GamesRadar’s Shark Week to help make a real difference.

Normally I think I rather not know whats going to be posted next week so I feel like it's Xmas everyday at Gamesradar, but reading what's coming up on Shark Week has got me excited! Games that jumped the shark?? Can't wait! P.S. Tyler did I watch Deep Blue Sea in the theater with you? Cuz that movie was definately unintentional comedy if not only for just Sam Jackson!
  • RealTerry - August 1, 2009 8:36 p.m.

It's "d" as in "all of the above".
  • walrusthewill - August 1, 2009 2:58 p.m.

You guys have to include the sharkweek scene from Step brothers in some way shape or form, or else shark week simply is not complete
  • Unoriginal - August 1, 2009 1:50 p.m.

In Iceland YOU eat shark. (Really, this is not just a lame Yakov Smirnoff joke.) This will be interesting to saay the least.
  • sixboxes - August 1, 2009 4:46 a.m.

this is going to be good! I love the fact that you can devote a whole feature to the fiasco that is Jaws Unleashed. honestly, if the controls were slightly better, I would've played through the thing just to see how completely ridiculous it would get.
  • GamerTagsSuck - August 1, 2009 1:37 a.m.

Ah... I remeber the cheat disk for the Gamecube edition of Ocarina of Time. One cheat was something to do with sharks... My favorite was hold z to haul butt.
  • iKOemos - August 1, 2009 1:03 a.m.

The comedy in Deep Blue Sea was unintentional? Well it still makes me laugh my ass off.
  • 435 - August 1, 2009 12:50 a.m.

I will wear the shark fin hat next week as a sign of solidarity. reCAPTCHA: Mrs marvel (guess she got married)
  • Hurricrane - August 1, 2009 12:18 a.m.

arrrrgh, why must you keep bringing up Jaws Unleashed, I want to purge that game from history
  • Jellyjiggler29 - August 1, 2009 12:17 a.m.

Uh...Did Discovery channel come up with this or is this like a real like holiday week in the world?
  • Eureka - July 31, 2009 11:33 p.m.

@Cyberninja Thanks, and if that's all you play consider buying one. That's only if you're into cheating, but, considering there aren't things like achievements on those consoles and the DS, you might want to consider buying one if you like cheats.
  • Gotxxrock - July 31, 2009 11:21 p.m.

This is why Gamesradar is the best video game journalistic website ever concocted.
  • Eureka - July 31, 2009 11:18 p.m.

For the, "What is Deep Blue Sea?" My answer is, B - Unintentional comedy. Sci-Fi movies like that are always horribly acted out and turn out hilarious.
  • Tasty_Pasta - July 31, 2009 11:17 p.m.

    w00t! I love GR's theme weeks!
  • Eureka - July 31, 2009 11:13 p.m.

@Cyberninja Not sure how often you'd really use a Game Shark nowadays, unless you still play older consoles occasionally.
