I abosultely LOVED the reference to Isla Nublar of the SNES Jurassic Park, that was one of my childhood favorites. I slaved like a dog for hours over that, I loved it so much... Thank you GR, thanks a whole lot for the childhood nostalgia. I appreciate it.

motorstorm pacific rift should be on this list, that island has really cool.

Nice list, and very time-appropriate given that it's summer. I'm glad Monkey Island made the list, but I was expecting Wake Island from BF 1942/1943 or something from Wind Waker. Those two were the first things to enter my head. Still, good read!

What about Arkham Island, Shadow Moses Island, and the island from the first Crysis. Those were truly awesome islands.

What about the islands from Riven? Probably the most beautiful and imaginative islands ever created.

Very original top 7, good read. I loved Jurassic Park on the SNES the T rex fight was epic. Yoshi's Island is a fair enough pick. I loved that game although the extra hard levels on the GBA were hell.

Teldrasil from World of Warcraft would be one of my choices.
  • listerinemarine - July 12, 2010 5:35 p.m.

The Destiny Islands? They were cool...

"What's also great is the way you can see other level areas from high points in the game, giving the real feeling that everything is linked and that the whole island is always existing while you play. Looking at it now, you can see it's just an illusion - Gamecube wasn't powerful enough to render all of that at once - but it worked. And in terms of creating a believeable gameworld, it's right up there with the best." Legend of Zelda: Oot did this on the N64.

I would say Dragon Roost Island from Windwaker or that island that turned out to be a turtle in Majoras Mask.
