Although I agree that colonial-era America doesn't have the architectural interest of Renaissance Europe, it seems to me that the series probably won't be leaving Europe behind altogether. Given the political situation surrounding the Revolutionary War in England and France (who would become a United States ally and a critical factor in defeating Great Britain), and given the series' concern with political history in previous games, I'd be willing to bet we spend a fair amount of time traversing the rooftops of 18th century London and Paris, trying to influence events there, which would be pretty damn cool. I could also see some interesting possibilities with the North American wilderness areas (climbing trees or cliff sides in backwoods areas, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting British agents or Yankee turncoats).

You act as if pre-Communist Russia had bigger buildings. They too, were an agrarian society just barely grasping the idea of industry DURING their revolution, the game would be no less different visually. Snow, and farms. Weeee. The American Revolution is the only era that would make sense right now; The American Revolution is the single most important war during the Post-Renaissance and Pre-Industrial era. Why? Because the 13 colonies were the first colonies to achieve independence from their home country. Sure there were attempts beforehand, but that war paved the way. It changed the course of history, it made empires practically obsolete, so it makes sense to include the Assassin/Templar war in there, considering its vast influence which we still feel today. (Almost every single country in existence today was granted independence)

Exactly my thoughts about the change in era and setting. I think the switch from the holy land in AC1 to renaissance italy in 2 was the perfect idea, I loved it. Constantinople and all that looks fun, but still...it doesn't feel like enough of a transition. And I know i'm gonna get flak for this, but I hated ACB compared to 2 and a lot of it had to do with the setting. I hated Rome compared to Florence and Venice, it felt kind of dull. I really hope this place feels different from Rome, with its own unique flavor.

I would love to se an AC game set during either the French or American Revolutions. If it were set during the French Revolution it could document the fall of the Bourbon Family and the rise of La République Égalitaire (which could have been an attempt by the Assassins to create a place where their creed is actually in affect) and then the rise of Robespierre and Napoleon who might very well have been Templar Agents (I remember they already made a reference to Napoleon having The Apple in one of the Subject 16 Puzzles) If it were set during the American Revolution then there would be a lot of possibilities for Templar and Assassin Plots... most notably The Mason. They're an Interesting group to be sure, if you look at the masonic crest (a Compass and Square Rule) it looks remarkably like the Assassins Symbol (on purpose I'm sure) but then there's also the conspiracy theory that the Masons are really Templars. So the game could entail running around and killing Masons, OR you cold be a Mason running around killing british officers and collaborators around Colonial Boston, Philadelphia, and New York (face it, if the game were set during that time period, those would be the three cities). This is the most likely scenario if the game were set during the Revolution, Ben Franklin would probably fill in Leonardo's shoes as the "Q" of the game. It would also be really cool to see an assassin killing people while wearing a Tri-Corner hat (and NO, the Doctor character fro the Multiplayer DOES NOT COUNT) The Russian Revolution would be interesting too but they already kinda covered that in Assassin's Creed: The Fall comic series But, to be honest we all know where AC III will be set, 2012 and Desmond will be the main protagonist.... which technically he has been for all of the games but, *sigh* its just not the same. Its the obvious conclusion that they have been building to ever since "The Bleeding Effect" came into being in AC II... sigh...
