Shooting has begun on Star Wars: Episode VII

Disney Chairman says most of the cast is locked in

Despite official announcements remaining extremely scarce, Disney Chairman Alan Horn has revealed that filming has actually begun on Star Wars: Episode VII .

Presumably this is predominantly second unit stuff at this stage, but it’s still exciting to hear that cameras are finally rolling on this most anticipated of projects.

Meanwhile, Horn has gone on to confirm that the majority of the film’s cast have now been recruited, with just a couple more vacancies yet to be filled.

“We have a lot of them,” said Horn in a recent university address. “We’re just not completely done yet.” An end to the rumours is in sight, then…

Directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Adam Driver alongside returning heroes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, Star Wars: Episode VII will open in the UK on 18 December 2015.
