Sorry, Far Cry 3 for me. The fact that Halo 4 is console only immediately disqualifies it for me. Add to that the fact that it's an Xbox exclusive. But then, I guess my opinion isn't terribly valid since I've never been a Halo fan anyway. But Far Cry 3 is such an amazing shooter and so chock full of things to do, not to mention that it's an incredibly beautiful game. The best of the entire Far Cry series and the best shooter I've played all year.

Spec Ops deserved to win. The best story of the year. I haven't enjoyed a story so much since a long time.

Totally agree. Story kept me hooked and certain scenes left me open mouthed. Havent enjoyed a story in a game for a long time. I think MGS4 was the last time a told my other half to be quite during a cut scene. COD will prob win cause people will have ignored Spec-Ops...The fools.

Missed the last part...Halo 4 won. Never played it.

Never interested in playing it, anyway. I tried with the first one, again with the second, but without success. It bored me so much. Besides, is exclusive for Xbox. I hate exclusive games.

There are going to be 2 kinds of people on this article. 1. Those who realize Halo 4 was deserving of the top spot (or at least a runners up) 2. Those disagree and haven't played it. I'm not a fan of Halo anymore and was set against 4 the moment it was announced. After seeing all of the near perfect scores I decided to give it a chance. I played through it once and while I have no desire to play through it again it is very clear to see why this will win so many GOTY awards.

Halo 4 deserves it. I didn't play Far Cry though mostly cause I didn't like 2 so I'm not sure if that was better but Halo definitely topped every other nominee.

Borderlands 2 or Resident Evil Revelations... if Revelations isn't on the list GR just lost more cred Lol

I forgot about Spec OPS The Line, that was a pretty okay game... but better than RE:Revelations? Lol No

Somewhat disturbing how every single game on the list was a sequel. I'd have to give the trophy to Borderlands 2, but I'm willing to admit that's just my choice, although I do find the decision to crown Halo as the best is a little odd, especially given the amount of criticism it got. As BladeFalcon said, I'm not likely to play it any time soon, and I'l probably never buy it, but just from reading your descriptions, it sounds like Black Ops 2 moved away from the traditional CoD formula, and Halo 4 rushed in to fill the gaps, and that's why you've given it the trophy. Still, each to their own, I suppose.

I have to admit, I didn't expect to care at all about Halo 4. I bought it as an impulse decision because a few of my friends were picking it up, and I thought I would play it a few times and then forget about it. Once I started playing it though, I was definitely surprised by how much I loved it. I can understand why everyone who hasn't played it may not be happy by the choice, because ODST pretty much sucked, Reach was just decent, and the fact that they added loadouts may make it seem like they are trying to create a COD clone, but 343 did an amazing job of making Halo relevant again. I would probably even back up GR's claim that it's even a better Halo game than Bungie ever made.

I'm fine with this. Halo 4 looks great, but there were a loooot of shooters this year. I would have expected Far Cry 3 to get the nod. But that's what happens when this many good shooters happen.

"Loadouts make the competitive side more accessible than ever, and the new killstreak rewards help move Halo forward without sacrificing what makes it unique." I hardly find loadouts and killstreaks unique nowadays, considering how easily and efficiently Black Ops 2 handles both of them. I don't really agree with Halo winning, but I suppose I expected it. The whole damn world is fascinated by those games for some reason.

"343 Industries created a better Halo game than Bungie ever did." Now that is a stretch.
  • BladedFalcon - December 11, 2012 11:42 a.m.

Don't really agree, but then again, I haven't played it, and probably won't. So *shrugs*
  • BaraChat - December 11, 2012 10:36 a.m.

Well, that was unexpected... Especially since almost every single comment I've read about Halo 4 was negative. And not "a bit" negative, but downright horible. Then again, it's your choice fellas, and I have to respect it.
