Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition coming October 11

Rockstar Games has a good deal cooking for Red Dead Redemption fans who want to experience everything the open-world western game has to offer. Today, the developer announced it will release a Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition on October 11 featuring every morsel of DLC goodness, plus a new hardcore difficulty mode for the truly brave single players.

The Game of Year Edition will consist of the Undead Nightmare expansion, pitting players against an army of  zombies; The Legends and Killers Multiplayer Pack, featuring additional online modes and equipment; The Liars and Cheats Multiplayer Pack, offering additional games of chance and challenges; and The Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, containing six outings for two to four players. Extras also include all pre-order content (e.g the Deadly Assassin Outfit, War Horse and Golden Guns), the Solomon's Folly gang hideout add-on, and the newly released Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack, which adds new characters and locations to the multiplayer mix.

For now, the loaded edition is listed as a North American exclusive for the PS3 and Xbox 360. And while Rockstar did say more information was incoming, it did confirm there were no plans to release a PC version.

Can any1 tell me do you have to enter the codes for the outfits weapons etc or will they just be on the game?

Yeah, knew it would happen eventually. Unfortunately I have no patience and well you know the game is a bit old now. I'm still playing it though, free DLC just came out (doesn't hurt).

I have the original game for the 360, have yet to gotten around to beating it and haven't gotten any of the DLC. However, if it comes out on the PC, I will pay for it, even if it's $60 and play it non-stop. (Though, of course selling my 360 version online or something.) That's how much I prefer playing on the PC.

I've been meaning to grab Red Dead for the longest time now, ever since it came out. If the price is decent enough, I'll gladly fork over the cash for soon as I have some.

God, DO IT! It's one of the best games of the generation, and this will probably be $60 for $100 worth of content.

No PC? Screw you, Rockstar. And screw whoever put a word filter in the comments section. Seriously, this is THE INTERNET. I'm out for your blood, you dumb bitch.
  • Shadow Of Death - September 13, 2011 2:29 p.m.

I'll get this when a PC version comes out. I still don't understand why they haven't done it already. They did it for all the GTA games (including the DLC)....Sure, they did a half arsed job of it, but still...

Well I don't have the Undead Nightmare pack, and my own copy of Red Dead is kinda trippy (It got scratched a bit). SO if the price is right I might check this out.
  • SDHoneymonster - September 13, 2011 1:20 p.m.

What does the hardcore difficulty entail I wonder? If it's anything like New Vegas, count me in - I loved having to drink water out of toilet bowls just to survive...
  • Hawkman21 - September 13, 2011 1:17 p.m.

No word on price yet huh? I'm guessing $40, although $30 would definitely prompt more to jump in...
  • dropout - September 13, 2011 1:09 p.m.

Ah, so the reason why my rss reader picked this up as PC news is because this game still isn't planned to be released on PC? I did get my hopes up for a few seconds...

Ha I knew this would happen which is why I haven't bought the game yet :P Although when you say "North American exclusive" does that mean there's no European version planned?? There better bloody well had be!
  • bebl09 - September 13, 2011 1:17 p.m.

Never mind, I found my answer on IGN: "Red Dead Redemption originally released in May 2010. The Game of the Year edition will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America on October 11, and internationally on October 14." Come on GR, I hate having to resort to IGN to get my questions answered, step it up! :P
  • TriforcePlayer - September 13, 2011 12:57 p.m.

Wish the multiplayer has at least one character with a duster coat.
  • wingsdjy - September 13, 2011 12:46 p.m. this worth getting if you already have the original game and the Undead Collection DLC?
  • Yaro - September 13, 2011 12:53 p.m.

Doubt that, maybe if you trade in your original copy or something. :P
