RadarPlays - Super Metroid

Lately, Nintendo is getting some grief from gamers for how it’s handling the Wii U post-launch, but how bad can a company be if it charges 30 cents for a game like Super Metroid? Ranked third on our list of the best games ever, the SNES classic just arrived on the Wii U’s Virtual console, and it’s only $0.30 for the next few weeks. If that isn’t enough to sell you on it, editors Henry, Ryan, and Lucas dove into the game for this week’s RadarPlays Retro to show you (or, at least, attempt to show you) why this game is such a big deal.

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

So is this just crappy emulation, or dirty cartridge connections. My cart never flashes sprites that badly.

One of the top 5 games I've ever played. Maybe even THE top one. It's such a well designed game and at the time the graphics and sound were state of the art. It just oozes atmosphere.
