You can own bleeding edge technology, now
Admittedly, %26pound;425 is a lot of money - no, it's a hell of a lot. But that's because Sony was adamant that inside each console would be a bleeding-edge Blu-ray drive capable of spitting out eye-shearingly sharp visuals - a Blu-ray drive that'd cost upwards of %26pound;500 to buy on its own.
Okay, so it's a no-brainer that, yes, PS3 is miraculously cheaper than something that's also staggeringly expensive. But DVD drives also knocked in at wallet-crippling prices, and yet still managed to swiftly take over the world. In PS3 you're getting a future-proof televisual treat and a top-notch games machine.
