Finding this code took me a while, I'd been focusing on scouring the internet for Dream Radar, yet here it lies on (which I don't think I've ever used). I hope others have an easier time ending up here.

  • C.King - September 11, 2013 11:24 a.m.

team flare are fashion police apparently, why do they need to be "evil" to do it? no clue. would've loved it if they made em like joke villains like team ciphers hexagon brothers and mirror B or even chobin though not a villian, you have to stop them but love seeing them around
  • J-Fid - September 11, 2013 2:38 p.m.

You know, I actually agree with you.
  • BladedFalcon - September 11, 2013 9:49 a.m.

Hmm, looking at the Gym Leaders, I don't know, even the Photographer doesn't look like it's set to one single type of Pokemon. Maybe this time around the Gym leaders won't be tied to only one Element so much as a style of Pokemon? Like you said, the Nerd looking Gym leader could use several Pokemon that are based on technology and not limit itself to just Steel or electric types. I dunno, it may be unlikely, but it would also be extremely cool, and would spice things up.
  • C.King - September 11, 2013 10:59 a.m.

wasn't gen 4 like that? themed on moves rather than pokemon? also i can't help but think that scientist gym leader has a castform or cherum and maybe a sunflora, reminds be of chobin from XD
  • JarkayColt - September 11, 2013 11:13 a.m.

Gen 4 was still very much type-based. The problem was that the Pokédex for Diamond and Pearl didn't have enough Pokémon variety in it. The most infamous example is Flint, who under normal circumstances would only have had one fire type, Rapidash, if it wasn't for the fact he was given an Infernape (this causes him to be the only E4 member to use a starter IIRC). They fixed the dex in Platinum so that every notable trainer has a full team of their signature type.
  • BladedFalcon - September 11, 2013 11:17 a.m.

Yeah, like JarkayColt said, the gym leaders in Gen 4 are still very much type based. I mean, I get that it's a staple of the games, but honestly, wouldn't it make for a more fun and challenging experience if the leaders used different types? Otherwise you are almost always guaranteed to one shot the gym leader's entire roster of pokemon with a single one of your as long as it's a pokemon that defeats the type you're going against. This was fine for the first few Pokemon games, but c'mon, we're way past that now, I feel.
  • C.King - September 11, 2013 11:32 a.m.

i think the point of the type theme was to encourage catching certain pokemon to have an advantage though i don't think anyone really adds pokemon to thier story team for that reason since just a neutral stab attack usually enough to 1 shot em so yeah either way would work but might be hard making a gym leader with a non themed personality but themes that aren't locked to types would be cool, unless there a evasion themed or a gymleader with a team of pokemon like whitney's miltank
  • winner2 - September 11, 2013 6:24 a.m.

Hmmm, I want to know more about team flare. They showed a houndour which makes it obvious their stint is going to be fire type, but that almost makes it too easy. I might make it a bit harder on myself just cause I don't like froaky much, but I'm waiting to see the final evolutions.
  • J-Fid - September 11, 2013 5:55 a.m.

You guys really need to change when you do this feature, this is now twice that a ton of new information has dropped the day after you released the episode.
  • C.King - September 11, 2013 11:21 a.m.

ikr! they just announced team flare's motive! and a reason to carry a pokemon with iceshard. maybe that new fossil pokemon idk. oh they missed the most important announcement, the type chart. i like how they nerfed steel types so i can hurt metagross more but wish they made ice types less risky defensively. and hydreigon in alot of trouble now having a new 4x weakness

In my opinion, if Korrina was to give you the Mega Ring or somehow be tied to Mega Evolution, I think she'd probably be the 7th Gym Leader. I think in every game so far, you can't challenge the final Leader until the enemy team has been ousted. To me, it would make sense that the final confrontation with Team Flare would involve Mega Evolution, or rather, your ability to use it. Since Mega Evolution only seems to apply to fully evolved Pokémon, I can't see any point in you getting the Mega Ring before maybe the 6th Leader. Also, your starters, at least, probably aren't going to be fully evolved until the 7th and 8th. So yeah, her being the 7th Leader seems most likely. However she could of course talk to you about Mega Evolution/give you the Ring much earlier and most of the game is spent trying to discover the power to use it. Also Team Flare ARE a lot like Rocket, aren't they? I mean, selling Fossils for money? That's what Rocket are doing when you first meet them! I think, though, that they're probably involved in Mega Evolution somehow, because the Mega Pokémon have a bit of an "unnatural" vibe to them, like it's a forced mutation or something. Maybe they're the ones who made the Mega Stones? I sure hope there's a Dark type Gym Leader this time too. It's WAY OVERDUE!

from that rockclimbers hair style i can see a sableye on his team 7th gyme when u get ur finalized starter? i always have mine before the 4th gym and sometimes before the 3rd when i get lost.... if they remake ruby and sapphire they should make that boat owner with the wingul stand out and look more significant! i'm assuming u might get the heads up about mega evolution pretty early actually since there's gonna be a load of stones we'll need to collect but they may not give us the ring until we deep enough in the game to have maxed the happiness of a pokemon and pokemonaime may make that a load quicker. actually it possible u'll get the ring pretty early and find out what it for a good portion later, they need to get you collecting stones early unless they available in a shop or for battle points. least convenient thing that could happen this is the new dream world hunting
  • JarkayColt - September 11, 2013 11:25 a.m.

Really, before the 4th Gym? Well, I can't really remember when my starters evolved, but I based my 7th Gym guess on the levels of typical 6th leaders. Winona is about Lvl 30 on average. Byron has two that are Lvl 36. Skyla's are about Lvl 35 and Jasmine is about Lvl 33. Sabrina's are about 40 but she can be challenged out of order IIRC. Since your average starter evolves at Lvl 36, I thought it would be more likely that most of your team was fully evolved before the 7th Gym. But that's just my logic, anyway. I do admit that it's also likely that you could be given the Mega Ring by Korrina early on and have to find the Key Stone or whatever it is later, as you say, to get a head start on collecting Mega Stones. I also do like the idea of having them obtainable in the Dream World. I hadn't thought of that. They'd have to make it more convenient though, for sure.
  • C.King - September 11, 2013 11:39 a.m.

seriously i don't think i ever had a my starter not fully evolved by 4th gym, except for in the latest gen but that might be cause of snivy's line have low offensive stats but i was only 2 lvls from evolving. and i rotate entire teams too having the lowest lvl 1st and highest lvl last, making it a load slower but i still end up to that point without grinding though i never run or pass up a trainer battle

Team Rocket had all the flare in the world... But, at least these guys look a little zazzier than those 5th gen guys. Even Team Magma looked pretty silly. I forgot what Team Galactic's uniforms were like. I miss Team Rocket.
  • SpadesSlick - September 10, 2013 6:59 p.m.

I remember hearing that Team Flare is just there for the money. They don't have some eco-terrorist plot like the later teams, probably to grab some more gen 1 nostalgia by making them closer to team rocket.
  • shawksta - September 10, 2013 6:03 p.m.

Team Flare seems awesome, gives an original Team Rocket flavor. The other 3 teams are Team Galactic and Magma/Aqua. Here's a interesting but otherwise stupid theory someone made up for Team Flare. "Remember when Original Giovanni had an Orange suit? Maybe he was literally the only member of Team Flare left and went to start his own gang in Team Rocket"
