Dream World abilities: Antagonist – any stat boosting move or ability causes a stat decrease instead and vice versa
Location found: Unova starter
Egg groups: Plant, Ground
Gender ratio: Male 87.5% / Female 12.5%
Effort values: 1 Speed
Evolution: Snivy > Servine at level 17 > Serperior at level 36

Pure Grass-type starter Snivy, aka "Smugleaf" to fans, is arguably the coolest-looking starter of the three. With an even split between attack and special attack stats, you have a huge pool of useful STAB moves to choose from even though Snivy and its evolutions are single type – Leech Seed is a must as usual. You won't get much type advantage against the various gyms, except for Ground-type Clay, but you will get a defense advantage in Elesa's Electric gym.

Overgrow is such a boring Ability for Grass types, so try to snag a Snivy from Dream World so you can test out its alternate Ability, Antagonist, which is new for this generation.

I picked Snivy, it just felt right.

I think I am picking Snivy based on how awsome Serperior is

    I don't like servine's battle cry

Ended up going with Snivy, but Oshawott was a close second. I like the grass types more, but not a huge fan of his last evolution.

I think I'll be agreeing with 510BrotherPanda for a while, Snivy is great looking but all of a sudden its evolutions were revealed and they're weird looking. Also, its evolutions being only a single type? What is this, Gen 1? *snarky laugh*

Seems like tough choice between starters this year, but I don't think I'll choose Snivy.

I'm sticking with my choice of Tepig this Sunday 6 March, 2011...

Snivy probably does have the best looking evolutions, but they aren't nearly as good as other Generation starters.
