Playable Catherine demo incoming

Japanese PSN and Xbox Live gold account holders will get an early peak at Catherine on January 27 when Atlus releases the first playable demo of the game. XBL silver members will have to wait until the February 3.

Atlus has yet to confirm a Western release of the game, but if you want to get your hands on the Japanese demo, it's easy. Just use our handy guide to setting up a Japanese PSN account.

The demo will feature some cutscenes and action sequences, and Atlus promises that it will allow you to thoroughly explore the beginning of the game. Though apparently they're not planning on leaving the demo up forever, so get on it when it's released if you want your crack a the game.

    Just played it. The climbing gameplay is suitably crazy. I just wish I knew Japanese so I could follow what was going on in the cutscenes.

    Errm... why is this of notability? You folks at Gamesradar have been covering this game A LOT. Also, my ReCaptcha was relatively amusing, but I don't know why people post them in the comments.

    Ahhhh. Just japanese acounts that sucks
  • CaptainSalmon - January 19, 2011 12:28 p.m.

    And if you don't know how to create a Japanese XBL account, then google it you twat. On topic though, definitely wanna FAP to this (c wat i did thar).
  • Y2Ken - January 19, 2011 10:13 a.m.

    Will definitely check this out. It's an Atlus game so I've got to give it a look, they generally put out very decent games.
  • Samael - January 19, 2011 6:30 a.m.

    Ohmygod if this doesn't get a US release I will colon-punch somebody. And please please do a FAP, especially if you can find a Japanese speaker.
  • Ironarm - January 19, 2011 5:54 a.m.

    I just want Atlus to announce a Western release! If Atlus is behind a crazy concept for a game I'm sure it's awesome!
  • Snowyjoe - January 19, 2011 5:26 a.m.

    Mwahaha, good thing I know Japanese :)
  • Gahmah - January 19, 2011 4:48 a.m.

    but maybe it's a bit CHEEZY
  • Gahmah - January 19, 2011 4:47 a.m.

    @Thunderpunch: Catherine seems rather mature actually.
  • CH3BURASHKA - January 19, 2011 4:33 a.m.

    @Thunderpunch: If you know who is behind it, I think the powers-that-be have more in store than just boobs, butts and boners. Sure, there's that element, the same one that news outlets will see, but there's probably plenty of story and narrative and character developement aside from the jigglies.
  • Thunderpunch - January 19, 2011 2:53 a.m.

    From what i can see, seems like another contender for the "shameless grab for boners" Anti-Award.
  • Mamudo - January 19, 2011 2:41 a.m.

    Oh my god, a FAP for that would be too awesome.
  • NeoKef - January 19, 2011 2:36 a.m.

    @Tyler Please do it! Please!!!!!
  • GamesRadarTylerWilde - January 19, 2011 1:19 a.m.

    @CH3BURASHKA Not a bad idea.
  • CH3BURASHKA - January 19, 2011 1:18 a.m.

    Would a FAP be too inappropriate? I honestly want to see what the hell this game's about. Even if there's no one in the GRUS offices that comprehends Japanese (which, come on, at least one of you is crazy enough to learn Japanese just to import their weird games), I'd like to see what it looks like, with the GR narrative an added bonus. Come on, GR, I'm counting on you. Give it a try, at the very least.
  • RamenChimera - January 19, 2011 1:14 a.m.

    Aw, c'mon... all this game needs is some people shooting themselves in the heads to fight demons.
  • Innounci - January 19, 2011 1:07 a.m.

    we already know what it is's about sex and goats and nightmares and...goats...and stuff, i think recaptcha: peduffe quickly
  • keltar93 - January 19, 2011 12:57 a.m.

    So we can all learn what it's about, I presume?
