The viewing figures improve for week two
The second episode of Merlin ’s fourth series saw the overnight viewing figures go up slightly from the series premiere.
“The Darkest Hour (Part 2)” was watched by 5.54 million viewers, up from 5.2 million last week. This is especially impressive considering the show was up against The X-Factor , which was, of course, the number one show of the evening with 10.44 million. Strictly Come Dancing was second with 8.68 million. So the BBC seems to be offering a viable alternative for people who can’t stand glorified karaoke competitions, and Merlin is getting figures comparable to Doctor Who .
The episode is also currently number one on the BBC’s iPlayer service.
