Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut: Happy now? See all the new endings right here. SPOILERS, naturally

Actually, after finally getting into the game the last fucking problem it has is the ending. The writing is just a sad mess with the immediate introduction of a deus ex machina, the single worst dream sequence ever in a video game, hours of walking down linear hallways shooting alternating with Shepard sitting around the ship moping. Then there are the huge leaps in logic like 'why did the crew that was shown preparing for the reaper attack suddenly disband for no reason'. I'm only about 10 hours in, but man, even at $20 this hardly seems worth it. And its sad because Mass Effect 1+2 were so amazing.

I guess paying attention isn't your strong suit. The reason the group preparing for the Reapers was disbanded was because Shepard was court marshaled and the Normandy grounded. Remember, Shepard worked for Cerberus in ME2, so it isn't like the Alliance just welcomed him/her back with open arms. ME3 is easily the best game in the series. The storytelling is excellent, the side missions are great, and the combat is better than it has ever been. Yeah, there are a lot of hallways to shoot through, but those are problems also found in the first two games, so I don't know why you're suddenly so upset. And give ME3 credit for finally cutting out all the extraneous crap that they stuffed into ME1 and 2, like driving missions, code hacking, and that stupid match game for bypassing door locks. Yes, the original ending was horrible. Not because of what it implied, but because of how little it explained. I won't give it away in case you're playing it now, but suffice it to say the Extended Cut fixes everything.

Extended cut didn't help the game anyway. The last minutes lack soul. True gamer would never write such a trash.

They were better than the first ending, which I still liked. Definitely worth playing through on Insanity to see the new endings.

Anyone who believes that this was not Bioware's plan from Day 1 is sadly mistaken. They've had this DLC planned and finished for quite some time. They purposely held it out in order to build up hype for the game after it's release, and they paid off a lot of people in the process. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that not one single review magazine or website with popularity pointed out the glaring problems with the endings. The sad part is, the only way they'll stop this bullshit is if we quit buying their games so they get the message that we're tired of feeling like we're wasting our money. Unfortunately, for every one person who says they won't buy their games, there's another 1000 sheeple that continue to throw their money at them because they are easily amused (COD, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Madden, etc).

...If they had planned that from day one, don't you think they would have, y'know, charged money for it? Every single piece of DLC for Mass Effect 3 so far has been free. (Save for the extra character, that was meant to be an extra for pre-orders to begin with.) So that honestly renders your whole spiel false.

....They make a lot more from the sale of the actual game itself than from the DLC. This wasn't DLC, this was the actual endings for the game that they purposely pulled out in order to rile up the masses and increase hype and sales for the game. Do you honestly think the team at Bioware sat there and watched the original endings and said "yeah that seems legit, ship it like that, no one will be upset"? No, they pulled the "extended" endings out, knowing exactly what would happen. It's called a business tactic, and I think they played their cards very well, even if it is a greedy move.

Except that doesn't make sense business-wise. Sure, the whole ending thing caused noise, but it wasn't positive noise in the least. I am pretty sure not that many people that weren't originally planning to play the game suddenly changed their mind when they heard people saying the ending sucked and that it was a blasphemy. And even if it DID help make noise enough for some people to buy it just out of curiosity, it causes far more damage with the community and people already invested in the game. Sure, EA is a greedy company, and I WOULD support your theory had they tried to make direct money out of this, but not charging for it is an extremely risky move. As for this: "Do you honestly think the team at Bioware sat there and watched the original endings and said "yeah that seems legit, ship it like that, no one will be upset"? Being the cynic that I am, no I didn't think they genuinely thought they were good endings. But I see that more of a case of "shit, deadline's coming up, need to finish coding so we can ship the game, just leave the endings like this, most people never finish games anyway, and also, being incomplete, we can call it artsy!" So really, I blame it more to lazyness and hurry rather than actual greed. And again, either way, they didn't made a single extra penny from me or others that had already bought the game out of doing this.

Well, damn. I guess I can happily shut up about the endings now.

You know the kids in school who stay up the night before writing a bare minimum paper, full of spelling errors, run-on sentences, and just lazy nonsensical writing? Then the next week when they get it back with a big F on the front they could give less of a shit, and all the teacher does is sigh...I felt like that teacher when I first finished Mass Effect 3. The ending was bad, yes, but even the demo concerned me. Earth falls under attack after 2 games foreshadowed it, and finally after all that time you have me running along the rooftops of the blandest future city of all time looking for a fucking radio? I've heard knock knock jokes with bigger set-ups and reveals. And then there's me, the kid who bullshit his papers to the point of actually believing it ( see above paragraph ). Now, I still don't like the endings. Or most of the game for the game for that matter. Besides a few VERY awesome set pieces and MANY touching moments of character interaction, the rest of the game feels too anti-climactic and just not fundamentally sound based on what the first two installments established. But I can respect it for what it is now, because I can see that they tried, and as many would say, succeeded. I answers the questions their own bullshit asks, but hey, it actually gives closure. So I'd give that paper a C+, or something. I can accept it...but I still don't feel like replaying it.

Uh, guys, do you not want to use Tetraninja's version again for the Refusal ending? It's actually in HD, in the right aspect ratio, uses the same character as the other videos, keeps uniformity of style and quality and is actually exhaustive. And it's the one LINKED IN THE VID ANNOTATIONS. Seems a little lazy. Also, myeh at endings - was never originally satisfied and these new ones, particularly the tacky and forced implementation of Synthesis seems really odd and roundabout as well. +1 for creative license here.

Im actually very happy with the improved endings not only cos it explains a great deal. But we see how all the lives of all the races returning home and rebuilding. And the fact that this time the mass relays or the normandy wearn't dastroyed/damaged as bad as first shown! Seeing all the crew and those who thought in the battle was the sort of ending we should have gotten in the first place. Why they chose to leave us completely unsure about almost everything was annoying. I felt like they rushed it to focus on multiplayer at first! Giving the changes it gave hope to further Mass Effects following the story of the Normandy and most of the faces we've known and loved for all these years. But I do agree that shepards story should have ended here. bUt... With the destroy ending, how long will it take them to find Shepards body lying in the rubble? :D

I think the reason people got pissed at the endings was because the series ended. I mean, you HAVE to have a conclusion and its just never going to measure up to how the rest of the game was. I was fine with the original endings, because the entire game was the ending to me. I tied up all my loose ends during the story. The choices I made in the first two games came to a close, not at the ending of mass effect 3, but during it. So, do I REALLY need to see what happens to each of my squadmates after the credits roll? Not really. Thats the beauty of interpretation and imagination. You dont always have to have shit spelled out for you clearly. So now Bioware felt they had to go back and give these whiny bitches some sort of explanation for what happened with their squad at the end, and what a fuckin shock, people STILL arnt satisfied. I hope to god you people who still bitch DONT buy anymore Bioware games. Because your a drop in the pond and if you REALLY think their going to miss your money, theres thousands of other gamers who LIKED Mass Effect 3 and the endings who will still gladly buy their games. Bioware doesnt need people who constantly moan and cry that they didnt get the ending THEY wanted on a game they had no hand in fucking creating. Choice is an illusion in games. It ALWAYS will be. There are sets of pre determined paths game creators set for you that will always be there. Just different ways to reach them. So unless you got some programming skills or any sort of knowledge on how these games get developes (you dont) shut the fuck up.

*sigh* Again. I'm not mad at the original endings because they didn't show what happened to our squadmates afterwards, or because Shepard died, (I went in KNOWING that Shepard would have to go. Either that, or something equally as grievous would occur) or because the series ended. Honestly, I don't even care about those reasons. It's because the endings MADE NO SENSE. We forestalled the Reaper invasion by destroying a whole solar system in Batarian space. How? By blowing up a relay. Blowing up relays destroy STAR SYSTEMS. That's what BioWare has explicitly shown and told us. Then we find out that no matter what ending we pick, EVERY RELAY IN THE GALAXY BLOWS UP. That effectively means, given the information BioWare GAVE us, we BLEW UP THE ENTIRE INHABITED GALAXY. And somehow that isn't the case? So okay, the fleet lived. Somehow. But how do they get home? They're MILLENNIAS away from their homeworlds, even if their FTL drives were working. They don't even have food! Save the Quarian flotilla. And then there's the Garden of Eden. How did Joker get down on Earth, and just pick up our entire squad from London? It's these glaring questions that pissed us off. It's like if the game just cut to credits as soon as Shepard reached the Citadel. There were more questions than answers. An ending like that, where it has been stated that this will be the LAST installment, that's a bad ending. Doesn't matter if it's happy or not, an ending resolves a conflict and answers all of the remaining questions that haven't been answered throughout the plot.

There are much better ways to do it. Like have one that makes sence. It never explained why the catilest is some kid shepard met, never explained how shepard spontaneously broke indoctrination, didnt explain how anderson entered the control room (that has one entrance) without seeing shepard, didnt explain how he had a bullet wound in the same place he shot Anderson (that he didnt have before) or how the catelist can preform space magic. There are just too many things that bioware started, but just said "fuck it". I would of prefered if it just had shepard did something to end the reapers, killing himself in the process, without all the magic "because i said so" logic.

As far as the rest of your post, thats where imagination and interpretation comes in. What show or movie ties up every single loose end? Let me rephrase, what GOOD show or movie ties up every loose end. Theres ALWAYS unanswered shit. Your questions are trivial. Who says the galaxy didnt blow up? The relays got destoryed, not by conventional means, but by using reaper technology, the ones who invented the damn things. Maybe that saved the galaxy. Who says they got home? Maybe they used reaper tech to make the ships move faster? Maybe they just landed on a different planet? Maybe the picked up supplies on their way home? Maybe Joker wasnt that far from Earth? Actually, wasnt he in orbit right above it during the final battle? You also see him hauling ass, maybe the reaper wave catapaulted him farther? Those arnt questions, their little trivial nitpicky bullshit rants from a cry baby who didnt get every single little thing explained to him. I take it you didnt like the Matrix trilogy. Or Lord of the Rings. Or Inception. Or Star Wars. Because theres a whole LOT of shit that if you dig deep enough doesnt make sense or isnt explained. But you know what? Who gives a fuck when the rest of the story is THAT good? I know your gunna scoff and give the stink face at my explanations. I dont care. I was proving a point, that you can take what happened and interpret it for yourself using any number of methods. To just watch the ending and leave it black and white is fucking idiotic.

You should go looking at previous articles when this was the front of speculation, It'll answer everything. I think many people are going to be very... tired of repeating what has been said many times on previous articles to others when David Houghton started one of the largest flame bait wars ever. I would comment, but I think it's a bit late personally to start complaining how others complained when whats done is done. People complained, they made improved endings, I think the rest is really history.

Yes. The well-worn argument of 'If you can't write books, or direct movies, or paint a painting, or code a game, you are not allowed to criticize anything'. Even thought the original ending was an incoherent mess and Bioware has never said anything about actually liking the ending they released, just a bunch of press releases about how they did not think it would be poorly received. Furthermore, they repeatedly lied about the content of the game prior to release. And yes, being that a sizable percentage of Biowares core fanbase (minimum of 100,000) was pissed off about this and told everyone about it, and I personally stopped several friends from purchasing the game, they had every right to shit their pants. Also, please stop acting like such a twat. It does not contribute to civilized discussion and only serves to weaken your point.

Where the fuck are you getting this 100,000 number of Biowares core fanbase? Also, where are you getting a sizable percentage? The internet? You realize MOST people who played Mass Effect 3 didnt get on the internet to bitch about it. People who go online to talk or read about games are ALWAYS the minority of the people who actually buy and play the game. Most people DONT go online to complain about the game. Believe me, they could give two fucks less if you buy another game. Those "several friend" you supposedly stopped from buying the game? Drops in the pond friend, drops in the pond. You can criticize all you want, just like I can call you a crybaby bitch all I want. Thats the beuty of differing opinions. You hate the original endings, I liked them. You claim that a bunch of people hate it along with you and refuse to buy it. I know just as many that love the endings and will continue to support bioware. Two different sides of the same coin. The game was excellent. And you thought it was excellent. How do I know? Because no one knows that much about the universe or even gives a fuck that much about the ending unless the game was good. If it was a bad game, no one would care. My original point still stands. You can complain about the ending of a series you love all day long. Point is, until you create a huge trilogy that you have to somehow make a conclusion to, your going to piss people off. Its happened with just about EVERY sci-fi or fantasy or horror medium, whether it be books or games or movies. When you have a universe THAT detailed, with THAT many different parts to it, there are bound to be things that dont make sense or go unexplained. Heres Bioware releasing FREE DLC to try to sate the tiny part of their fanbase that cried like a bitch about the original endings. Most of them are appeased. And yet, my point in bringing all this up again, is that there are STILL self entitled little bitches that think they DESERVE some kind of better ending, like its THEIR fucking game they went to program 12 hours a day.
