Madden 12’s Hillis cover, Hall of Fame Edition revealed

 Attention Cleveland Browns fans: for those of you that are sick of mediocre (at best) seasons and are in need of reassurance that you have chosen the right team to champion, we bring good news. EA has unveiled the Peyton Hillis cover shot for the upcoming Madden NFL 12.

Also revealed by the publisher was a brief video documenting the Hillis cover shoot and the inevitable limited edition of the annual pigskin sim, the Hall of Fame Edition. Limited to only 125,000 copies and emblazoned with a bronze image of former St. Louis Rams’ RB Marshall Faulk, the Hall of Fame Edition will include one of four randomly-inserted Panini trading cards autographed by Faulk, exclusive Madden Ultimate Team Platinum Pack fantasy football cards featuring hall of famers and former Madden cover athletes, and, of course, a copy of Madden NFL 12.


Above: The Hall of Fame Edition (left) will be on sale on August 30 – the same day as the regular edition – and will retail for $89.99

The Hillis cover, though, outside of being something of a coup for Browns fans with its decisive victory over a possible Michael Vick image, makes us a little squirmy. I mean, he’s staring right at us. …Awkward… Anyway, check out the actual cover shoot in the video below:

    @Jmcrgrotty I know about the whole voting fiasco that happened this year. I just find it sort of unusual that someone like Hillis would grace the cover. Did Vick deserve to grace the cover? It doesn't really matter to me. The Madden series is garbage plain and simple, they go through very minor tweaks and updates (roster updates, playbooks, and every year more and more attention to the stadium fans and very generic commentary). Yes I know that one of the major updates is that players who get injured can have concussions and how they want the gamer to understand how serious they are. Yes that's all nice and all, but I would like to see more freedom within the game. The franchise mode sucks, and the AI is either brain dead or controller-busting frustrating, there seems to be a very thin happy medium with that.

We better make something with a real name on it as well" Edition. "Why a Cleveland player? What's next? A Detroit Lions player on the Madden cover?" I'm sure you know this, Gringostar, but it was a Cleveland player because that is what fans wanted. It was a vote. Pretty simple concept to get, I would think. (Before you read past this, know that I hate Detroit. But I'm a realist as to what their team looks like this year) As for a Lions player? If they do the voting thing again (they won't. Vick wasn't supposed to lose), it definitely could be a Lions player, especially since for the first time in years, this squad looks good. With Stafford, Suh and that POS Fairley on the roster, they have both a legit team and legit star power. Which means legit chances of Madden 13 cover.

    I haven't picked up a copy of Madden in about five years, but I like the idea of a workhorse like Hillis on the cover, so it may be time to pick up a copy.

    Why a Cleveland player? What's next? A Detroit Lions player on the Madden cover? The population of Cleveland Browns fans is just a single digit! Michael Vick would have been cool, and the theme song could have been "Who let the dogs out" by the Baha Men. I typically don't buy football games (last football game I bought was Madden for ps1), as I find my NFL Blitz much more entertaining.
