Halo meets Jurassic Park in ORION: Prelude. Hold onto your butts

We love Halo. But there's one thing the series is sorely missing. Dinosaurs. It's been proven by chin-stroking science men everywhere that ancient scaly monsters make any FPS better. Just look at Turok: Evolutio... dang. Anyhoo, ORION Prelude looks way more promising. So, if you've got any love for tyrant lizard kings, shooty space marines or Jeff Goldblum quotes about piles of prehistoric shit, scroll below to watch the new trailer...

Based on Orion: Source, a multiplayer mod built from Valve's Half-Life 2 engine, the title is now being turned into a fully formed game and is even set for a release on XBLA and PSN, alongside Steam, naturally. Developer David Prassel has promised vehicles, tens of weapons and obviously an abundance of the most awesome dinosaur of all time.

Above: Is there anything T-rex can't make better? Well, apart from that awful Brendan Fraser flick

With it's wide open environments and helmeted space dudes, Prelude looks to have more than a hint of Halo too it. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to dream of two of our favourite things in the whole wide world to whittle away the rest of our Friday.

Above: Sheeeeeit, our nether regions are getting all excited

YES! THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THIS! I PLAYED SO MUCH OF THE MULTIPLAYER SOURCE BETA! I knew that a sensible games magazine like you guys would show this eventually.

This has to do with Halo how? I thought this would be an article about the first non-bungie halo, and dinosaurs.

the first thing that comes to mind is Dino Crisis 3. I'm a little worried about this being good. Plus halo mix with other stuff sounds kinda bad.

-jetpacks around 1:11 don't instill much in the way of confidence, personally. EDF:TREX, anyone? ;) thanks for the link, chimpey... looks fun.

Looks like a really cool game - not nearly enough games nowadays have dinosaurs :( BUT! Have you guys seen Primal Carnage? Looks kinda like this but more like TF2 meets dinosaurs AND you get to play as the dinosaurs :D This game is right at the top of my most wanted list in the coming months and I suggest you all take a look at it: http://www.primalcarnage.com/website/

Too much scrolling around scenery in the trailer, not enough dinosaur gore. I'm still excited, though.

I thought it looked rough, then I noticed it was an XBLA game. For the price, looks great.
