These changes sound interesting. Heck, they even sound like fun. But it doesn't sound like 343 is trying to get back the Halo feel bungie broke with Reach and armor abilities. At least now it seems like Halo 5's multiplayer will be different enough that I can enjoy it as its own game and return MCC when I want to play some real Halo. I'm glad they're leaning away from that weird space-COD twilight zone Reach and Halo 4 had going on. The new Mjolnir still looks lame though, hopefully there are some decent helmets in the full game.

343's gridiron motif for the new generation of mjornir is starting to bug me. I know Americans like football, but this is getting ridiculous.

So, anyone here vainly hoping that the mysterious new character is somehow one of the guys from Red vs. Blue? Like Agent Washington, Agent Florida, or, hell, Caboose or Tucker?

I'm a little confused. I thought Halo 4 was supposed to be the start of a new story dealing with the forerunners. It was my understanding that that story line would continue in the new games. Guess I'm wrong.

You've got to consider that a lot of the particular bodily battle suits is actually missing out on and the lid provides misplaced a great deal of mass creating him or her look a lot slimmer in the impression. http://goo.gl/lEQWe1

Another game shown before E3 Sheesh

Might never play this game, but I'll say this, that new spartan armor, regardless of who is it underneath, looks pretty cool, cooler than Master Chief himself.

Hehe don't be too dramatic now.

I have not been a fan of halo since halo 2, halo 2.5 (wrongly named halo 3) killed the game for me. BUT why does a female Spartan get you all excited? This is the modern world where woman should be able to fight side by side with men as equals. I am male btw and I just believe we are all equal in this world.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that that concept art's body profile not fit that of a woman (because that's what they're basing their "woman Spartan" speculation on)? To me it just looks like Chief may be getting a new armor. Perhaps a Promethian variant. After all, Chief did seem to be hyper evolved and/or imprinted by/with the Librarian - I'm thinking along the lines of Ur-Didact to Iso-Didact. Therefore, he's now the most advanced human in existence. I'm praying to God it's not a Spartan V. I hate the Spartan IVs. They're just beefed up ODSTs and to me it just kills the whole awe factor of Spartans. **SPOILERS** I also don't like how 343 just cut ties with all things "Bungie" Halo except for the ones they need for a game to be considered a Halo game: Chief, Cortana, Halsey. I haven't finished the Kilo-Five series yet but it seems to me in Glasslands the Spartan IIIs and IVs abruptly get cut off and all of a sudden Halsey is public enemy #1 because she tried to replace the kidnapped recruits with clones?

Considering how some if Isaac Clarke's armour in a Dead Space 2 looked fairly feminine on him there's every possibility that this is just a new guise for Master Chief.
  • skabeds - May 16, 2014 4:10 p.m.

Totally true. You have to take into consideration that a substantial amount of the torso armor is missing and the helmet has lost a lot of bulk making him look a lot slender in the image.

I think that the art department put more subtext into this 'mirage' poster than 343i realised and now Josh Holmes is having to deny it is Cortana when the turquoise light from her visor clearly indicates otherwise and the E3 video has John bringing her chip to some Promethean demigod buried in the sand of an alien world - presumably, to fix her as Dr Halsey used their technology to create both Cortana's AI and the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor whilst she was working at the ONI, so... it is reasonable to assume that the only hope for Cortana's resurrection would be a Promethean and that a rejuvenated Cortana could have them construct MJOLNIR armor for her based on blueprints she had from when she was connected with the ONI, therefore the ONI insignia on the armor is explained, John's motivation to seek out this giant Promethean unarmed with Cortana's chip in hand, all makes perfect sense and yields plural: Guardians.
  • skabeds - May 19, 2014 7:36 a.m.

Wow, I never even thought about that. Interesting theory. I never really looked at the artwork in detail. It just doesn't look feminine to me. That would be awesome and yet horrible at the same time. To me that would make John and Cortana's relationship somewhat more boring to me. She'd become just another "soldier" at your side.
  • LoboMau - May 16, 2014 8:01 a.m.

Finally! It took them god knows how many games to realize that all what's needed was a game where we pit Samus vs Master Chief. Now, all we have to do is imagine that armor is orange...
  • kyleander95 - May 16, 2014 7:38 a.m.

Could we be seeing a similar play style to halo 2 where half of the missions were played as the arbiter maybe that is why she takes so much emphasis, I doubt they would oust masterchief completely though
  • SpadesSlick - May 16, 2014 7:09 a.m.

That female spartan better be Kelly or Linda instead of lame ass Sarah Palmer. Make it happen 343.
  • Brett35 - May 16, 2014 6:29 a.m.

I love and miss the Arbiter. Would it be possible the female Spartan was experienced through flashbacks that are haunting chief, maybe she is a love interest that died. Do Spartans even do that? Make little miniature Spartans that are born with a suit and mask on because apparently they never come off! :P
