Gears of War 3 beta: Three minutes of the most deliciously brutal and hilarious kills so far. Also, chicken-abuse!

The Gears of War 3 beta might not start publicly until the 18th of this month (if you've bought a copy of Bulletstorm, anyway. Everyone else will have to wait 'til the 25th), but we've been fortunate enough to have early access since yesterday. And because we'd feel like bad men indeed if we kept all the fun to ourselves, we've recorded our early experiences and mashed then together into one big, bloody, beautiful highlights reel for you. There is gore. There are exploding heads. There are chickens being mulched spectacularly. Because everyone hates chickens.

We have a longer Full Access Preview video coming later on, but in the meantime, click on, hit play, and see what hideous joys await you when the beta goes public later in the month.

I was pretty down when I wasn't able to get a beta key since I was out of the house when they were announced, especially since all my friends received one.. lame. I was able to obtain a free beta key by searching some random giveaway blogs. I thought it was a scam until I had a key sitting in my email inbox... I don't know if they have any keys left, but if you want to give it a shot the site is here:

Apart from the locust one where he tore your arms off and beat you don with 'em, none of these looked to be particularly new... On a side note, I (finally) worked out how to plant proximity mines in GoW2 and am enjoying it immensely.

I gotta give it to the Gears games; no matter how samey they look to me, I have to love them. This gets me really excited, even though I'm hoping for a little bit more interesting innovations.

Looks no different from the other GoW multiplayers really bar a few execution things which don't really bother me. I never particularly liked the multiplayer and never got into the story (I borrowed them off a friend) and so I will probably end up just borrowing this one rather than buying it. May as well give it a go when it comes out but it's not like i can't wait for it.

GAMESRADAR! I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU! Apparently you didn't check out any of the weapons. You know, the game is much more fun when you're messing with the Digger, Torque, Longshot, and new Incendiary grenades. C'mon man! Explore!

That last kill seems like the ultimate buzzkill. "OH YEAH YOU JUST GOT ONE SHOTTED BITCoh shit."

@bloodstorm. Sadly thats my whole problem, voting for gamertypes! I want to play exectuion and that is it . Just like i did in gears 1. The hardcore gears crowd was always split between those 2 types of game and it always seemedthat we/they did not want to play games that have respawning or any of that stuff. ( ok wingman might have garnered an OK following, but it doesn't feature respawns). It seems to me that they have given up on defining their OWN types of game and now are just on the cod/halo bandwagon. Hence tdm ffa etc etc etc. If execution is not in the main game i won't even think about purchasing it. Which is sad as ive waited for gow3 for fookin ages!

Using a pool is no different than regular Deathmatch. If you have someone who dies a lot, it doesn't matter if it takes from a pool or gives the other team points. The only change comes at the end. Think of it as regular deathmatch to a certain score, plus "finish off the survivors."

@presc1ence Actually, I hate Execution, and only vote warzone if it is up against Execution. I prefer meatflag, or guardian, or wingman. I think TDM sounds like fun if you have a good team, but the pool of lives is going to be anoying if you have one of those that dies 20 times to his 3 kills. I'd prefer it that each teammate has a set of lives, so they waste their own and not everyone elses, but I will see how it realy is next week when I get to join in on the Beta. Love this video too. Nothing like some gory, over-the-top executions to brighten the day up. Put's a smile on your face.

    aiming still looks stiff
  • presc1ence - April 15, 2011 3:09 p.m.

WAS really looking forward to this and then I found out what waas no the beta, a dodgy sounding TDM, capture the (meat)flag x2. Rubbish, absolute rubbish. Obviously all we wanted to play was Warzone and Execution, whys does these seems to not be on the demo epic?
  • hllywd212 - April 15, 2011 2:59 p.m.

lol I noticed a distinct lack of video showing you guys getting owned. And you guys get on FOX news for their slanted views.
  • Robx - April 15, 2011 2:52 p.m.

cant wait to see you guys fap this! har har har never gets old
  • flare149 - April 15, 2011 2:47 p.m.

GamesRadar can has chainsaw pease? Haha, you guys were tearing it up with that thing. Also the fact that you can now kill people from a greater range with an assault rifle while they're downed may just be the thing I was waiting for to really get into the multiplayer. Before everyone just switched to the shotgun and ran up and murdered each other because shooting someone with an assault rifle meant you had to wander over into enemy territory to kill them, or waste a ton of ammo to down them 3 times
