Gamers stop robbery and beat up hardened criminals... kind of

You know who you shouldn’t f*ck with? Dudes who spend their nights in Hawaiian video game cafes. If you’re an aspiring criminal, may we suggest robbing your mum’s purse or sticking a bank up with a make believe finger gun. Because on the evidence of the video below, you ain’t got a chance in hell of a successful heist if there’s an agitated gamer in the vicinity.

Above: All gamers in Hawaii are this damn manly. Fact

To briefly set the scene, some troubled young men in Kaneohe, Hawaii decided they'd fill their time by robbing an online gaming cafe. They proceed to punch the owner a bit, before stealing some money from the few customers inside. The robbers then try to relieve some poor chap of his DS. And they would have got away with it, too... if it wasn't for that pesky kid who moonlights as a totally badass shaman in WoW on week nights.

How far would you go to protect your games? Would you fight potentially armed crimials? Would you risk your life for a handheld? Would you sit through Eclipse to save your copy of Starcraft 2? Why not share these imaginary ramblings with us in the comments below.

I wish they beat the fuck out of them some more.

You guys that carry knives are insane. I've known people who went to jail and a kid who spent high school in Juvie. Juvie is fucking prison for kids. It's just money and the kids didn't even get a block before they were arrested. Even if they did steal a bunch of shit, they got ONE block. When it's dumbass robbers like that, you end up getting your stuff back. You guys that carry knives are retarded. I love my DS but it's not worth me stabbing some punk kid with a shitty home-life and possibly going to prison just to protect it.

Nothing makes me happier when gamers fight back! Yeahhh! :D
  • philipshaw - August 3, 2010 11:56 a.m.

I would fight back if anyone tried to take my PSP, I have a 50 hour save of MGS: PW that I don't want to lose

what we see here is the future of LARPing...the ds kid may have found his calling, he'd make an excellent tank...

And that's why I always have a knife on my person, just in case shit like that happens. But what gets me, is that they had visited beforehand and given the place their information. I honestly cannot wrap my mind around that. Some people are just too stupid to breathe, I guess...

I'm just sad to hear that they released the robbers for "further investigation". Oh yes, a whole lot more investigation needs to take place after, oh I don't, eyewitnesses and video evidence. I have no clue what I would do but I'd probably follow suit like these gamers. I'd play along until someone began to retaliate then jumped on the opprotunity. Of course, that wouldn't be a good idea at gun point.
  • lionarthegreat - August 3, 2010 3:27 a.m.

i'd fight back too, i'd probably get my ass beat but i would be satisfied that i tried to defend gaming and gamers
  • shadowarrior99 - August 3, 2010 3:08 a.m.

It looks like it was game over for the robbers at the start :)

    Dont f**k with the DS
  • solidux - August 2, 2010 11:08 p.m.

@R-Ape, Games would be kind of irrelevant, games simply just stirr up whats already there. We're Humans, aggression is in our blood, it runs through our veins, and everyone have the potential to become very angry even with little irritation. It's not all about the games, they just work like fuel to anger.
  • jollyroger50 - August 2, 2010 10:41 p.m.

i usually carry a knife myself, and im trained in tae kwon do,kickboxing, judo, brazilian jiu jiutsu, and aikido, plus im like 250 lbs if i didnt see a gun i woulda throwndown at the first signs of aggression
  • Lurkero - August 2, 2010 10:36 p.m.

I'm glad they were able to defend themselves in the end, but its sort of pitiful that they outnumbered the guys and there wasn't a visible weapon. Even when the one guy got angry and attacked the others stood there, I mean c'mon. What has our world come to when people still won't defend themselves against such attacks. Note: I have yet to be threatened in that way, but I have defended myself against other situations
  • foxyexplosion - August 2, 2010 10:28 p.m.

I would totally fight these guys since they didnt look too armed. If it was fists on fists I would stand up, if they pulled a knife I would probably back down though. Even if I had my own knife getting stabbed would suck. Guns get pulled and I would just crouch down and throw my money in the air.
  • Cyberninja - August 2, 2010 10:01 p.m.

wow i dont think anyone would try to steal from there again.
  • AlpineGuy - August 2, 2010 9:51 p.m.

'...and all three suspects were released pending further inspection.' WHUT.
  • FNG - August 2, 2010 8:25 p.m.

The first picture is from the worst movie ever, gamer. It was kind of anti - gaming too.
  • Dabenguin - August 2, 2010 7:55 p.m.

    Bad-assery at its finest.
