Game: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Song: Tal Tal Mountain Range

Composer: Kazumi Totaka, Kozue Ishikawa, Minako Hamano

Above: "Tal Tal Mountain Range" from Link's Awakening

Zelda is inarguably one of the most popular names in all of gaming, but outside of the super-obvious themes, its music has generally taken a backseat to the gameplay, characters and brain-bending puzzles. And while it's true that plenty of Zelda's music is made to fade into the background, there are still some outstanding tracks nestled in there. Namely this inspirational tune from Tal Tal Heights.

Played over Link's ascension into a dizzying mountain range, Tal Tal belts out adventuresome spirit like no other song in this Game Boy-only release. Link rarely needs motivation to save the day, but if you can't muster up some sword-swinging enthusiasm while rocking to this track, pull the stick out of your ass and get to shakin'.

Link's Awakening was re-released in 1998 on Game Boy Color (probably the version you're most familiar with), and now looks to be revived by the gorgeously 3D remake seen above. We've got our fingers crossed that Nintendo doesn't step in and put a stop to what's surely a labor of love.

How bad is it that this is only LoZ game I have ever played? Anyway, great music. Brings back memories.

do yourself a favor Jacob and hunt down a copy of Majora's Mask on either Gamecube or Nintendo 64, it's offbeat just like Link's Awakening, which is my favorite handheld Zelda (first Zelda I ever played)

This was my first and probably my favourite Zelda. I have such a long history with it and yet I've never even finished the damn thing!

BTW - if the embedded player isn't loading, it's because you don't have QuickTime. That come up for anyone else?

hope you don't think this is original, we've been doing it on our site for months.

Sure don't! But unless you invented the idea of sharing music, I'm going to bet someone else did it before you. It's not an original idea by any means, not even yours.

At least tell us the name of your website where you're being so innovative as to put up music
