FrightFest 2009: Michael Jackson lives!

John Landis returned to the FrightFest stage tonight to introduce the making of Thriller.

Approximately an hour in length, it offered glimpses at all parts of production - Rick Baker's make-up design, rehearsal dance footage, Landis tickling Jackson's feet - as well as vintage footage of Jackson performing at various stages of his career.

Throughout, the atmosphere in the cinema was part whooping excitement and part hushed reverence, and the applause that drowned the end credits was the most heartfelt of the festival.

Talking to Landis in the foyer after the screening, the director told Total Film that he wanted people to see Michael on the big screen. 'It reminds you of just how fucking talented the guy was,' he said.
