First Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City trailer released

The debut trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has debuted. The upcoming squad-based RE entry was revealed in the latest issue of OXM, as well as other mags, and puts you on the side of either a government Special Ops team or the Umbrella Security Services (lots more details in our first article!). See it for yourself in the trailer... though aside from the cameo at the end, the most notable take-away from it may be "BIG LOGO GETS SMALLER."

I agree with greyishpoweranger I can't wait, i sold my ps2 and ps3's don't play their games anymore so I missed out on resi 4. This looks fun, and come on who doesn't want another zombie killing game??? COMMUNISTS that's who. Anything that will prepare us more for Z-day is good by me.

I'm interested. I just hope Slant Six doesn't fuck this up like Socom Confrontation.

Too chaotic!!! at least in this teaser. it gave to the left 4 dead hype I believe. I dont mind the action, but a slower pace with stealth and cover is the sweetspot here. anyways, its Racoon city! Mr. X, Nemesis and william birkin are waiting!

I actually like the premise, but... -Resident Evil 2 -Resident Evil 3 -Resident Evil GCN -Resident Evil 0 -Outbreak -Outbreak F2 -Umbrella Chronicles -Darkside Chronicles Isn't it about time to stop revisiting the events of a town destroyed by a nuclear bomb 13 years ago?

it's like L4D, at least they are slow and not like the crazies

I always give Resident Evil a go. Usually works out just fine.

Damn, I still need to buy RE, RE2, and RE3. Thank god for the Wii.

As long as the zombies don't die in one shot like L4D, I'll be happy. They need to be tough enough and be in large enough numbers to provide an 'o shi-' feeling. In L4D there are big hordes, but they can be easily dispatched and that's why L4D isn't very exciting for me.

This game seems alright, but what a terrible trailer

I'll hold my judgement till I play the game BUT. Based on theory, I like the idea of co-op with friends fending off in Raccoon City, who else back in the 90's when playing Resi 1 or 2 thought "I'd love my friends here now to help out", this is precisely that but sadly it looks like it has lost the horror, ambience and atmosphere that made 1 and 2 cream my pants with the smelly stuff.

Hell yea I can't wait to see more of this game.
  • Sy87 - March 30, 2011 8:43 p.m.

Yes this looks cool. I always wanted to be part of Umbrella's secret security force. Plus the gas masks have always been styling.
  • HitmanSB07 - March 30, 2011 8:23 p.m.

So a L4D with real zombies? Sweetballs, hopefully it'll be a good game.
  • jordanmandrusiak - March 30, 2011 7:20 p.m.

Why you all hating, because you all played RE2,3, others havnt and plus i hope this comes out soon, and i hope it is like COD maybe or L4D1,2 but i dont care, but if this turns out to be an online PC game or so, i will join, like it would be awesome so think about it all, it could put all the pieces together, and this might be the remake of RE 2 and 3 with better graphics and gameplay
  • ElwoodFiore - March 30, 2011 7:10 p.m.

They said its somewhat irrelevant to resident evil 2? If they would remake the gamecube resident evils and import them to a better rated console that would be a bad ass RE game. I liked walking throughout the scary mansion one side to the other to collect things. If i wanna play a first person zombie shooter. Its gonna be Nazi Zombies on COD, This however is just asking for trouble

Being a longtime fan of the franchise, I've been dishearted by RE4 and 5. But this shows promise, and since it's not part of the official canon I can give it more of a break. But when RE6 comes out, it better as hell be back to roots.
  • GorditaSlim - March 30, 2011 6:44 p.m.

I'm hoping that this can wash out the bad taste that the Outbreak games left in my mouth. The trailer is certainly intriguing, and I think that allowing you to kill series mainstays like Leon is a pretty ballsy and interesting move.
  • F4G1TR0N - March 30, 2011 6:30 p.m.

@Z-Man We all hope that we are wrong. I personally can't wait to see this universe as a user said above. The gameplay does remind me of L4D as other people have said, but does it not look scarier also? L4D was never really scary, it was more action-y. This game looks bleaker and downright evil, as Leon put it, " What the hell is going on here?" Hope I quoted him right
  • Z-man427 - March 30, 2011 6:22 p.m.

I don't doubt that it will be a quality game and likely really fun, but it just doesn't seem like anything new to gaming. But I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong.
  • SYN616 - March 30, 2011 6:21 p.m.

I read in uk PSM that its being developed by the same team that did SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation.after the blah of RE5,if this isnt any good,i think its going to majorly hurt the series :'(
