First Modern Warfare 3 footage debuts tonight

The first gameplay footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will debut to the public tonight at 6 p.m. PDT during the NBA Western Conference Finals. Those of you who don't plan to write a snarky comment declaring your distaste for the series (read: the silent, probably-overwhelming majority, which isn't at all wrong for being excited to see what the new Infinity Ward has to offer) should follow IW's Robert Bowling on twitter, as he'll post a link to the HD video as soon as it's up. Or you could just watch the game, but, eh.

Details on Modern Warfare 3 recently poured out of a giant leak, but aside from a few brief teasers, Activision has been fairly quiet about its prematurely-revealed game. According to retailers, which are already taking pre-orders, the game will launch this year, on November 9.

We'll surely have something to say about the trailer tomorrow.

Omg the third one!! I'm so excited!! Let's go Battlefield 3!
  • RogueHippie130 - May 24, 2011 12:36 a.m.

Here's the cycle: MW3 comes out, within the week becomes the most played game on XBL. Then BF3 comes out, and it becomes the most played game on XBL. Then next year's CoD does that, then maybe a Halo game, then another CoD, then some other uber-hyped FPS, so on and so forth. Still, I'll play it. I'm a sucker for Michael Bay explosions.

Fad to hate CoD? It's a shame that the game isn't what it used to be. The campaigns used to be very atmospheric scenarios. The missions were well thought out and you had a purpose. Now the game lasts 4 hours and you don't even know why you shot a bunch of people.
  • Pepperette - May 23, 2011 11:57 p.m. Here it was leaked already... (Not a rickroll!)
  • Moondoggie1157 - May 23, 2011 11:40 p.m.

It's no fad, just a desire to see something aside from generic first person shooters :) P.s. Speaking of Blasto, why isn't there a sequel for that game? It's been what? 13-14 years? (Fuck I feel old) Now that is something that would spark my interest.
  • Ruvalc - May 23, 2011 11:39 p.m.

fuge COD im sick of it hello BF3
  • Hammish - May 23, 2011 11:39 p.m.

Nevermind, I was wrong about the teaser.
  • Bladex206 - May 23, 2011 11:37 p.m.

Seems legit, score one for team excited? *highfive*
  • Hammish - May 23, 2011 11:36 p.m.

It's going to be a 20 second teaser with lots of Michael Bay explosions and little gameplay footage. Then fans will get excited. Then fans will over hype the game. Then there will be a E3 demo that promises crazy, new, fresh gameplay. Then the game will come out, and it will be great for about three weeks when everything is new and exciting. Then everyone will hate it for various reasons. They'll call it the "Worst COD ever." Then there will be DLC, and people will be excited for a temporary period of time. Then everything repeats.
  • Blasto - May 23, 2011 11:34 p.m.

Apparently the trailer was leaked: Looks legit to me.
  • igothitwithabulb - May 23, 2011 11:26 p.m.

I've never seen any game this hyped. I saw a commercial this morning for the trailer. Reminds me of the whole Halo 3 hype machine. This game better not be another Modern Warfare 2... Either way, I'm going to watch it, if just to see some Price facial hair action.
  • ibeberger - May 23, 2011 11:26 p.m.

I'm on Team Excited too, sorry =*(
  • Bladex206 - May 23, 2011 11:20 p.m.

@Blasto Just remember it's a fad to hate on CoD, and all the kiddies gotta be hip n' cool right? I am also excited for MW3.
  • GhostofTaft - May 23, 2011 11:19 p.m.

Tyler, you're psychic. Your foretelling of snide comments has come to pass.
  • D0CCON - May 23, 2011 11:12 p.m.

6:00 PM, huh? *Opens schedule* 6:00 PM: Play Oblivion
  • Blasto - May 23, 2011 10:54 p.m.

Screw the haters, I'm damn excited to see mw3.
  • Moondoggie1157 - May 23, 2011 10:54 p.m.

Oh, oh, oh I want in on this too! Another unoriginal installment to a series that is so overly hyped, that it is safe from all bitching. How many people picked on Homefront's short story line, when in all honestly, one could complete any of the CoD games within the same amount of time. When will this series die!? Come on developers, you claim that video games are an art form, fucking prove it! As long as this crap keeps pouring out, no one will take games seriously. Aside from that, yea, I'll likely buy it used at Eb for the short campaign and then resell it, like all the others.
  • majormoses117 - May 23, 2011 10:53 p.m.

I've personally never been a fan of CoD multiplayer. Too much hype and too many people getting too into it. I do, however, enjoy the campaign. I really really wanted to take a peek at the game when it was leaked but restrained myself. Yes CoD is essentially the same thing over and over again but I do enjoy the new stuff they put into each CoD and will probably keep buying. Hopefully this game won't be a total flop what with all the negativity and legal troubles surrounding Activision.
  • festafreak - May 23, 2011 10:46 p.m.

Gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that this will look like MW1, WaW, MW2 and Blops. Nothing new here. Moving along.
  • RicePuddingUK - May 23, 2011 10:26 p.m.

I'm looking forward to MW3 just to finish the campaign, I love the storyline (as much as the amount of plotholes MW2 had) but knowing Infinity Ward it'll be 4 seconds long with some awful rap song on top of it.
