Fallout 3 graphics comparison

VIDEO: See the 360 and PS3 versions side by side!

Words: Joe McNeilly, GamesRadar US

The neverending debate over which console makes prettier pictures continues with Bethesda’s epic Fallout 3. We’ve played a bit of each, scrutinized the footage, and now present you with our findings. For everyone who loves a good fanboy flame war, we’re sorry to say that neither console looks consistently better than the other. It truly comes down to which particular rock or building you happen to be looking at when you make your decision. Some textures look better on PS3, while others look broken. Some colors look more vibrant on 360, but some look more washed out. Draw-in occurs on both platforms, in similar places. We noticed a bit more texture pop in the PS3, but structures seemed to fade in a bit smoother. Let us close by saying how impressive it is that Bethesda was able to put out a game of this scope on PC, 360 and PS3 as a simultaneous release. Both consoles deliver a top-notch gaming experience for RPG players of all affiliations.

I think the question isn't which console looks better. It's why aren't more developers able to pull off such a herculean task across all platforms for the same game?

Why did two ppl say first?

the colors on the x-box 360 version seem more darker than the PS3

The 360 graphics look a bit darker than the PS3 but overall they're both great. I already bought it but i had to send in my 360 to get repaired. Oh fun! :)

ppl will always say first, so deal with it. im just glad i found someone who was wrong about being first cuz they look even more retarded. anyways, yeah, fallout 3 is pretty sweet on either one and you wont notice any differences unless you waste time looking for them and the game still rocks so, the end.

@brandon.w365,

The 360 graphics may look darker because the comparisons were shot at different times ingame.

i like the ps3 one the best.

360 makes everything look shinny and fake.

I think I actually hate people who complain about others writing 'First' more than people who write it themselves. Does it really matter that much? Is it really ruining the website for you?

wow everyone's saying that 360 looks darker even though there is a thing called night where things look darker....retards
