Dead Space 2’s new lullaby trailer

A new Dead Space 2 trailer has just released. The stark video shows snippets of the horrors Isaac Clark will face on the Sprawl and is set to the nursery rhyme Ring Around the Rosie. Dead Space fans will recognize the creepy adaptation of the children’s song as a nod to the E3 trailer for the original Dead Space, which featured an extra disturbing rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The Ring Around the Rosie rhyme is often associated with the Black Death pandemic or the Great Plague of London. According to this popular interpretation, the ‘ring around the rosie’ refers to a ‘rosy’ rash and the ‘pockets full of posies’ refers to medicinal herbs that people may have carried to mask the smell of sickness. In other versions of the rhyme, the ‘ashes, ashes’ line is replaced with a sneezing sound, and the ‘falling down’ part refers to what would eventually happen when plague bearers finally died a horrible death.

However, most folklore experts doubt the veracity of this interpretation for a variety of reasons, including its late appearance and that key words are absent from many versions of the rhyme. Too bad. We always loved the ultra dark interpretation of the children’s song.

Nice another song to fall asleep to into nightmares. That song does have some demented meaning and they taught that to you in kinder.

MUCH better than the E3 trailer where Isaac suited up like Iron Man and kicked ass to generic heavy metal background music.

The Twinkle, twinkle trailer was damn creepy, but I feel that this new one is trying too hard. Oh well, Dead Space 2 looks SIIIIIIICK.

Theres no way 2 will be scarier than 1. Even 1's trailer was better. Still going to buy 2 though :D

Definitely creepy tune but doesn't quite make much sense to me. Then again, I guess there aren't many children's songs about space. Still looks good.

yup i definately like the first one trailer better. dead space 2 definatley isnt goin to match up to one's level of creepiness just because of the fact it is going for more of an action style.

hmmm. they seem to have missed the point about what gamers liked about the first one. No one cares about the cult, or the marker, or the necromorphs. The star was the Ishimura; being trapped alone on a deralict spaceship is what gave the game its atmosphere, the same as in the movie Alien. Remove the setting and you remove my inclination to buy it. Sorry guys, I loved the first one, extraction was ok, but I'm not getting this.

I really cannot wait for this game. Loved the first one, will most likely love the second one. I might even try the multiplayer if it isn't balls....

I love the creepy phrases they managed to rhyme with the song. Can't wait for the game!

I'm not sure what's more chilling; the trailer or that interpretation. Wow.
