Twisted metal and broken bodies form the meet-cute in Pablo Trapero’s grungy noir-thriller, as an ambulancechasing insurance-scammer ( The Secret In Their Eyes ’ Ricardo Darín) starts a guilty romance with an exhausted paramedic (Martina Gusman) who shoots speed to stay awake.

Darín and Gusman are two of Argentina’s most soulful stars, but Trapero struggles to crank up the tension on both their relationship and his corruption exposé (“vultures” feeding off 8,000 annual traffic accidents).

Scenes spark then fade, until the sinuous climax arrives with collision force.
